So just for fun, what is one thing you are really picky about? Or more than one, if you want to share more! Anything from an object to a brand to a routine, anything at all.

I'll start. Toilet paper! I have one specific brand that I think is the absolute best and I really prefer to not use other brands. I will use others if I have to, like when my suitemate buys random kinds for our shared bathroom. If it's my turn to buy though, I always ultra soft Charmin.

Another thing I guess for me would be (also tp related, ha!) which way the roll of tp rolls. I prefer it to be put on so that the part I grab is close to me, and not the wall.

What about you bees? Anything you're really picky or particular about?

Timeliness.  I will not, ever, ever be late (unless it's out of my control).  FI is starting to get better about being on time, since it constantly becomes an issue!  I stop making plans with people who are constantly late for things (a friend of mine was 45 minutes late to sometihng because she was "folding her laundry."  That's it for me!)

Oh that's a good one! My mom used to always 'to be early is to be on time, to be on time is to be late'. 45 minutes late folding laundry?!

Jewelry. I'm not one to buy a lot of rings and jewelry. I save a long time and buy very specific pieces and stones, and when I do they pretty much need to be perfect. Jewelers roll their eyes when they see my email address pop up.

I am picky about my cereal! I only buy the name brand, not store. My husband always tries to buy the big bags of the store brands, but I'm not having it.

I'm picky about fruit. I am that weirdo that will drive to 3 different places to buy different types of fruit.

I freak out if I accidently touchthe rim of a rubbish bag.  I carry the garbage by the tips of my fingers to the skip with a bottle of atiseptic alcohol gel in the other hand.  I feel my hands twitchy just typing this, and I have just washed my hands again because of writing it.

I can't eat re-heated/second plating fish.  Salmon the next day is a no-go for me.

I cry and call my mum if I vomit.

And I am petrified of moths.

I'm really picky about how much clothes fit. I hate if they're too loose or too tight in an unflattering way. I like them to be very fitted. I'm particularly obsessive about how my underwear fits as that can ruin an otherwise lovely outfit.

Otherwise I'm really picky about spelling and grammar (even though I sometimes slip up myself).

I am really picky about certain kinds of food. Some items I don't mind the store brand and others I get so mad if my SO tries to get me to eat store brand. Sometimes it makes a huge difference. Cereal is one, cottage cheese is a big one, cheese-its as well. There are more but I don't want to make this too long.

I'm picky about food as well.  Some things must be brand name, some must be store brand from a specific store.  I'm also very picky about how my shirts are folded.  I hate folding laundry, but when I do it takes forever b/c of how I have to fold them.

I am very picky about etiquette, especially when throwing a party or something like that. It urks me to no end when people do not use proper party ettiquette when throwing a party.

My food can not touch on my plate. If my food touches I will not eat it and I only eat one food item at a time, so I have to eat all my green beans before moving on to my corn or something else.

Because I am so picky about how everything looks and goes together when I throw a party or cook a holiday dinner for the family, I never let people bring things and it actually kinda gets on peoples nerves and maybe offends them a little, but I don't care. I believe that if I invite you to something at my house then it is my job to provide what ever needs to be provided and all you need to do is show up, relax, and enjoy.

I too must have the toliet paper roll facing outward not in towards the wall.

Meat! i love meat but i'm really weird about it - i butcher it until there is absolutely no fat on it before cooking...if it's been in the freezer too long i'll throw it out. i inspect it while i'm eating it, before each bite. chicken, beef, pork...doesnt matter.

My biggest fear is vomiting, so most of my pickiness revolves around that.  I won't eat anything that has touched pickles, won't eat pickles, olives, or ginger ale (all factored in to getting sick at one time or another), and I won't let leftovers sit in the fridge for more than 3 days.  And I get worried when other people are cooking, especially my dad, because I don't think they are vigilant enough in washing their hands after handling raw meat!

I'm picky about the way my clothes fit too, especially jeans.

I will actually take a pair of flop flips, flats and tennis shoes (I don't wear heels that much) and make sure that I can wear a pair with all three types of shoes and it looks good. Like the legs are bunching up, they are the right lenght, etc. DH laughs, but I went through a horrible stage as a teenager and I couldn't find jeans and I had to wear guys jeans because (even 10 years ago) they didn't make plus size clothing for woman under 30. Plus I'm short.

Anyway! Also picky about food but not nearly as bad as I used to be. More so lately because I got the stomach flu after eating broccoli, califlower and salmon. So even the thought of eating that stuff right now makes me want to hurl.

How dishes are stacked.  Come on, there is a way to maximize the use of space when you thinking logically about where you place your things vs random stacking.

    @brittromance:  Agreed.

I'm even the oddball that thinks Guinness is terrible (please don't hurt me, Guinness lovers). I love a stout with body that will (figuratively) put some hair on my chest. Guinness is too watery for me.

I really despise printed paper towels.  They have to be white.  Dh buys printed ones sometimes just to drive me insane.  They go in the pantry, not on the counter in the paper towel stand!!!

I just read through this thread and realized that there are so many things I could write about but that I would come across sounding crazy (especially about food things).  So, I'll just tell you about my pickiness when it comes to loading the dishwasher.  If FI does it weird, I usually re-do it, haha.

I'm picky about...everything. LOL. Sticking with brands I like, jewelry (heck, I designed my own engagement ring!), food, cleaning (if someone cleans something "wrong" I have to redo it), organization, spelling and grammar...

Taking piano lessons as a child, if I hit one wrong note I would have to start the entire piece over again because I wanted to play it through with no mistakes. The pickiness is strong with this one, lol.

I'm super picky about my meat. My family nicknamed me The Surgeon at mealtime because I will meticulously trim any and all specs of gristle, fat, cartilage, veins, etc. And if chicken salad has a bite with cartilage in it then someone else gets to eat the rest of my sandwich cuz I can't (FI often enjoys extra sandwiches).

I cannot sleep if there is any light except red in a room (e.g. alarm clocks, cable box).

Being on time is definitely a huge one with me. I personally HATE being late but I can handle friends being 15 or so minutes late. I have friends who are regularly 1-2 hours late to things so when I need them somewhere at a specific time I just lie about the start time.

Also, how the bed is made. FI makes it a certain way and I always go back and fix it. Good thing I'm usually still in bed when he leaves for work!

I’m picky about hand hygiene/eating.  I literally can not eat something unless I wash my hands right before, except when I’m at home.  I honestly just can’t do it! My husband and friends laugh at me, if we’re in the car and I’m super hungry I won’t eat unless A)as mentioned I am able to wash my hands or B)use hand sanitizer and then take a napkin and touch the food with the napkin and eat it out of there (my glove compartment is filled with napkins haha).  It’s a bit ridiculous actually.

other things I’m picky about: toilet paper (I can’t believe brands such as ‘angel soft’ are even legal, and don’t get me started on the almost see through stuff in public areas), the word a lot- it’s NOT alot, teased hair- smooth that stuff out afterwards- don’t leave it ratty, and lastly vacuum cleaners – my Dyson ball = my favorite household appliance. Ever. Oh, and laundry deteregent. Yup, I may be slightly OCD about these things, there's just no changing it.

I'm really picky about grammar. Although, I'm human and I mess up occasionally...the most annoying thing in the world to me is reading comments like "Your IQ is so low you shouldnt be able to vote!" Ahhh

I'm also really picky about decor and hosting. I like everything to match in my home, and I like to set out a tasting & pretty looking spread for guests.

    My clothing.

I don't care at all about how much it costs or who made it.  It had just better fit properly and be figure flattering.  I'm a true believer in the saying  "If you look good, you feel good."  I should change it a little to if you think you look good : )

I'm also very picky about grammar, and food. I even text in correct sentences with periods, commas, and apostrophes. I'm also a very picky eater. I don't like anything but cheese on my pizza, I get salads plain, and have to special order at fast food places.

I'm super picky about bras. I cannot and will not buy cheapie bras and undies from Target, WalMart, etc. I don't mind paying more for them because I know that quality is important in undergarments and the more expensive stuff stays nicer longer.

Add another one to "picky about how my clothes fit". If it is even slightly ill fitting, I'll NEVER wear it, no matter how new. I have to try everything on.

I'm also picky about my nails - think even lengths, no chipped polish, etc -  and I can't stand a dirty kitchen sink. My bathroom sink is a mess, but the kitchen sink for some reason has to be clean.

This is definitely the accountant in me, but my organizational system for bills and money. I have binders for each year with tabs for each loan, credit card, or bill type (in alphabetical order!), with each statement printed out and a notation of when I paid, how (check, online), check number, online confirmation number, etc. I also reconcile my bank statement every month. My husband endlessly makes fun of me, but he wasn't laughing when I paid for the half the wedding :p He now knows not to try to mess with my finance binders because I will yell at him!

@Juliepants:  I hate how my fiance loads the dishwasher too! 3 years together and he still hasn't learned the correct way (which is MY way hahaha). I've noticed he gets it from his mother.

I also hate the upside down toilet paper thing! I will even change it in other people's homes hahaha. I figure I know what's good for their toilet paper ;)
