I have been looking forward to this for MONTHS.

I will be getting a ham, salami, capicola sub with lettuce, tomatoes, hot banana peppers on a multigrain roll with TONS of hot sauce from my favorite local sub shop and a ice cold glass (or 3!) of Coca Cola!!!

What will you be eating right after labor?

Is it something you gave up during pregnancy?

It would be so awesome if I could eat Chick-Fil-A after I deliver, but there aren't any here.

I would love a glass of Prosecco! And a Big Mac!

I would LOVE a salmon sushi roll (or 3!) with avocado and cucumber... and once I stop breastfeediing, I'll add a Mai Tai to that order!

There's a really awesome grill type of restaurant down the street from where I'm going to deliver and I'll probably have DH bring me grilled shrimp pasta while I'm recovering in the hospital! Yumm. I've missed seafood and wine!! But wine will have to wait a little longer since I plan to breastfeed.

I've literally been dreaming about a turkey sub with bacon, mayo, avocado, lettuce, tomato, green peppers, and black olives.  I used to eat one of those almost every weekend and I have missed them so much.  DH won't let me even get near lunch meat now, even if I heat it up.

The biggest, most delicious plate of sushi ever. There is an amazing sushi place 5 minutes from my hospital and DH will be making a run there.

@regberadaisy:  Yes! I do know about that one but I've heard it's just not the same. I have a friend from Jersey bringing me Chick-Fil-A on the day of my shower :)

@Heatherloveskenny:  Prosecco is just heavenly and I miss it so much! My plan is to breastfeed baby for the first time and then have a glass. They sleep so much after they're first born so I figure I will have time to get it out of my system before the next feeding! I have Prosecco on my list for the birth center bag!

My poor husband has been so good about not eating sushi since we got pregnant since I can't. The last time he had decent sushi was when we just found out almost 7 months ago.

The other night he finally caved in and we stopped and grab some on the way from childbirth class. I got a eel roll and ate some of his spicy dragon roll. But those tuna, salmon sashimi looked sooo fatty, juicy and utterly delicous. I pretend ate them. hahah

@regberadaisy:  you have no idea how many times I have thought of this (it changes daily)

Right now I am totally with you on a big italian sub except I will be washing mine down with a bottle glass of pinot.

@plantains:  OMG me too. I miss smoked salmon SO MUCH!!! I didn't even think that that could be my first meal, but perhaps it will be. Lox and bagels :)

Another contender is an Italian sub.. I've had plenty of lunchmeat heated up, but I haven't had any salami or cured meats because they don't really heat well, and I can't wait to have them.

The one thing I know that I absolutely MUST see DH walk into the hospital room with within an hour of giving birth is an enormous diet pepsi. I gave up everything diet during pregnancy and I would cut off an arm for a diet pepsi some days. I can't believe there are only ~3 weeks until I get to suck one down!!!

Wine!! We are getting wine on the way home, or else stocking up soon ;) I've heard it helps with milk letdown anyway so I feel totally good about it.

I did have a few ounces at Christmas, so I kind of broke the rules lol!! oh well ;)

I also didn't follow the no-coldcut rule very well. I mostly just had my subs heated up. But sometimes I forgot. Embarassed

I have missed sushi, but it's been okay because I haven't had many opportunities to have it anyway.

So mostly... beer and wine :)

I definitely want some cheese and wine.  I miss blue cheese, brie, goat, yum....  all the good cheeses are unpasteurized.

I had a bacon turkey bravo from Panera the day after I had my baby. And as much as I said I was going to have a beer right away, between massive fatigue, breast feeding, etc, I actually had to wait almost 3 weeks for that beer. My first drink in 9 (*cough 8*) months and it was a Coors Lite. Oh well, it was awesome.

I am going to have a turkey sub, followed by a huge slice of cheesecake (I LOVE cheesecake and will have to avoid it for the rest of my pregnancy due to GD), when I get home, maybe a glass of champagne.

I will be drinking Almond Champagne from Wilson Creek Winery located clear accross the country and they don't ship to my state. I will be having it shipped to a friend in Georgia who will bring it up when she comes for my baby shower. It's the best stuff on earth!

I will be eating a giant plate of spicy salmon rolls as well

I told my sister that she should be expecting to be sent on a sushi run to my favorite restaurant as soon as the baby is born.  Salmon sashimi and spicy tuna rolls, here I come!!  An italian sub is a close second, so maybe we'll make that my second meal...

I've been a bad prego lady. If I want a pop, I have half a glass.

If I want coffee, I have half a mug.

If I want a cold cut sub, I have a damn sandwich.

The only things I've 100% cut out is alcohol and cookie dough. When I'm feeling desperate I steal my MIL's glass of cabernet and sniff it real good ;) Going through the holidays without either? That was terrible! :)

I definitely plan on having cookie dough. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

Sushi and pinot noir!!! OMG I can't freakin wait!

I have a half can of Pepsi or a few sips of coffee when I feel like it, but everything else has been a no go for me. Wine is going to be so amazing when I can finally have some.

@KansasPrincess11:    I'm with you, sort of.  I just had a small latte this morning (full caffeine) and occasionally I want a Coke so I have one.   And on the odd occasion over the holidays, I had a small glass of wine.   I have refrained from all deli meat though and avoid raw eggs (cookie dough, brownie mix, etc), even though I've been baking up a storm.

I've already told DH he will need to run to the deli and get me some proper deli shaved ham and a baguette - I don't even want it in a sandwich, I just want to nosh into it like a savage.  Following it up with an ice cold beer would be nice too but that might have to wait until after hospital.  And on the agenda when I get home - whipping up a batch of chocolate chip cookie dough with lots of sampling to be done by me before they go in the oven!  :-)

    June can't come soon enough!

A french brie and wine, though I am going to paris in 3 weeks and will probably have both of these, in small quantities then.

this post is making me feel a little guilty, cause that is about all I have given up, I still have deli meat if its fresh, I had a raw salmon/avocado sushi roll today for lunch. I have caffeine if i feel like it (but generally I dont).

I am amazed how many ladies here restrain from so much. While I totally respect it, and understand why, my doctor had such a laid back approach, and told me if I wanted to have a pop, to drink a diet, and if I wanted to have a sandwich with deli meat at work then go for it. My son is healthy as a clam! ( Not that I am encouraging drinking pop, or eating deli meats).

As for me what I really wanted during my pregnancy was a glass of red wine. I think it took me a couple of months before having that! My first meal was a sandwich from the hospital cafeteria about 15 minutes after delivery. It was so plain, but SO good, because I hadn't eaten in about 16 hours.

A turkey and brie sandwich with a Saranac beer, and/or a rare steak with a glass of red wine. I've had bites/sips of all of this (at Christmas) but I felt guilty for weeks. I don't feel guilty about the occasional soda (I had a Coke today--a real one, not a Caffeine-Free Diet Coke) or cup of coffee, because I very rarely indulge.

the only thing i have given up entirely during pregnancy is alcohol and raw fish.

i still eat sub sandwiches occasionally, and have coffee/soda rarely as well.

i guess the only thing i will really be craving is a massive sushi roll.
