Oh you poor thing! I don’t quite have the answers here but just wanted to send hugs and happy thoughts your way! I don’t blame you at all for being paranoid. Congratulations on your pregnancy!!!

I got a bad cold shortly after finding out I was pregnant. Not very fun, so I’m definitely feeling your pain! I wouldn’t worry too much though, just take care of yourself as much as I can. Lots of soup and vitamin C . I got a vicks vapor machine to help me sleep at night and got as much rest as I was able. Before becoming pregnant it would take me forever to get over colds (3 weeks- a month) but I was over this one in a week..maybe because of my prenatal vitamins?

Trust me the worrying doesn’t stop after 1st tri 😉

Tons of fluids, rest and vitamin c and you’ll be ok. Good luck.

@BlissfulBerry0813:  Well, I will warn you that, for me, the worrying continued past the 1st tri.

That aside, with your cold the only thing you can do is get lots of rest, drink water, and if you want something wamr, just make some hot water with honey and lemon.

Hopefully you feel better soon!

it might be pregnancy related (due to lowered immune system) or it might just be the time of the year

paracetamol/tylenol is perfectly safe. saline rinses for your nose can help a lot as does steam inhalation. anything else check with your doctor

I know how you feel I’m in the same boat! I feel awful right now I’m not even 8weeks yet. I have been sneezing all day like 5 times in a row everytime. I’m stuffy and irritated with this cold. I’m nervous that all of the sneezing is too much pressure on my stomach at this point!!!

I had a pretty bad cold during the first part of the second trimester.  I had constant runny nose for a few days then it turned to cough.  I got over it, but it was so not fun.  Luckily it didn’t progress to bronchitis.  I really don’t want to be on antibiotics while pregnant if possible.

I had a cold early oN too. It was miserable! Take some Tylenol if you feel comfortable and drink lots of fluids. Hope you feel better soon!

I got a really bad cold during my first trimester and was completely miserable also. I didn’t want to take anything in fear of hurting the baby. Drink lots of warm tea and be sure to breath in the steam from the tea (peppermint works best). I hope you feel better soon!

@BlissfulBerry0813:  it’s terrible I know.  I’ve gone through 4 nasty colds already.  You should only be concerned if you have a prolonged high fever: REST, fluids, and tylenol only.

Take time off work to feel better!

I’m going through a similar type of cold now! I didn’t take any tylenol but drank hot water with honey and lemon and made lots of soup. Feel better!

Echoing all of the bees advice, also, this might be a given, but stick with your folic acid(or prenatals) my SIL didn’t take them until very late on her pregnancy (pure laziness) and she got hit with cold after cold. She pretty much spent 6 months with a cold and as soon as she started taking her prenatals she didn’t get a other one!
