I just found of from yelp that the venue I had chosen for my October 8th,2011 wedding is in forclosure. I am heartbroken because I did not know. I thought I had done all the necessary research about my venue. We have already paid a $2000 non-refundable deposit and more money is due in April. My mom thinks I need to get out now. Has this happened to anyone and what did you end up doing.
I am now scrambling to find a possible new venue that I love just as much. 🙁

I haven’t been in this situation with a wedding venue but if I were you I would demand my money back because there is a possibility they will close before your wedding and look for another venue. Good luck.

I agree. Try to get the money back, but if not jump ship…fast. This situation is bad now, but it will be worse when come September they are closed!
Its still early in the game and I am sure you can find a venue (I’ve had several friends plan a wedding in 6 months).
I hope this doesn’t mess up too many plans, but I see great things in your future…everything happens for a reason!

I don’t know if you will be able to get your money. When venues go into foreclosure, there are a lot of ramifications. Well, I wish you luck.

When did the foreclosure come about? Before or after you signed with the venue?
I would contact them like yesterday and I agree I will try to get out and find a new venue.

Check your contract. Does it cover this by saying if the wedding site is not available that day do they find someplace else?
