Speak to your doctor but if it helps i knew someone who was like 4 months pregnant when she found out andhad been drinking booze and smoking. She went on to have a beautiful healthy baby. Just be good to yourself from now on and don’t beat yourself up over what you may have done the last couple of weeks, stressing will be more dangerous to your baby. And… congratulations.

Don’t worry about stuff you did super early in the first trimester. Just less wine from here on out, start taking your prenatal, and if your morning sickness allows, try to eat a little healthier!

Your baby is going to be fine–CONGRATS!

@alyssars1:  Congrats on your BFP! I drank during my two week wait & am now 28w pregnant. There are lots of people that don’t find out they are pregnant until much later, you figured it out pretty fast =) Start on a good prenatal and call your doctor. Most doctors won’t see you until 8-12 weeks (so don’t be surprised if they don’t want to see you right away). Good luck!

Congrats!

Don’t worry about it! Wine and bad eating that early in pregnancy (while never ideal) does not affect the baby directly. Just change your habits from here on out, and definitely get on a good prenatal…also of course make an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible.

Do not worry about it! I know a few women who were partying it up like crazy (one friend had been completely wasted and high the night before she found she was preggo, haha) and had the worst habits shortly before finding out they were expecting – some of them were even at six weeks plus!

CONGRATS!!! I pray everything works out exactly how you want it to!

@alyssars1:  Going to your doctor’s appointment should help to put your mind at ease. Now that you know you’re pregnant, you can stay away from booze and too much caffiene. (My MOH is pregnant and her doctor allows one cup of caffienated coffee/soda per day. I also know several other pregnant ladies who occassionally have a small glass of wine, which they’ll drink slowly.) What I’m getting at is that, yes we all know now that drinking alcohol while pregnant is not a good idea, but it takes a lot more than a couple glasses of wine to really screw up a pregnancy. You and your baby are going to be okay. 🙂

@alyssars1:  First CONGRATS! I’m not a doctor and every pregnancy is different however I myself was 5 weeks pregnant before I knew! I was socially drinking (basically wine and hard cider) not eating right, etc. I’m now 20 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy who will be here May 18th. So take a deep breathe, don’t stress and make an appointment.

First of all, congrats! Second of all, now that you know your pregnant you can take steps to eat/drink a little healthier. My friend literally binge drank her first 6 weeks of pregnancy (she didn’t realize she was pregnant) and felt awful when she found out. But didn’t drink another drop and ended up with a very healthy baby girl.

Take a deep breath and enjoy this!

Well my grandmother found out she was expecting my perfectly healthy mother when she was six months pregnant 😛 and she had not been living a life suitable for a pregnant woman. Working 24/7as a nurse for infectuos children’s hospital, drinking, etc. I think misscarriages are more du to genetical or biochemical errors, not so much alcohol. However correct development later in the pregnancy is dependent on a healthy life style!

@alyssars1:  Don’t worry! Many women drink before they know they’re pregnant. At 5 weeks you have more than enough time to turn it around. Make sure you start taking vitamins ASAP. Good luck!

Congrats!

I’m not usually a big drinker, but before I found out I was pregnant, I came home from a concert and did three shots with my husband. I felt so guilty about it because I found out that week I was pregnant. My doctor assured me that everything would likely be fine. I now have a perfectly healthy three week old. She was born at 8 pounds 13 ounces (that’s a healthy size!). I also ate french fries at every meal in the first trimester because I was SO sick. I threw up until 35 weeks.

Be sure to take your prenatal daily starting now. Try your best to eat healthily, but in the first trimester, you just have to do what you can. I avoided Dr. Google during my pregnancy. I just followed my doctor’s instructions and took a list of questions with me to each appointment.

Everything will be fine!

Don’t worry about the stuff you did before you found out.

I was in VEGAS when I was 5 weeks pregnant (unknowingly) and even my Dr. told me not to worry about it.  I also continued to drink for awhile after that (though only 1-2 at a time).  Not that I’d advise it as a good thing (obviously)…but they told me it was so early that it didn’t matter as long as I wasn’t still doing it.

The serious things like Fetal Alcohol Syndrom typically happen over extended periods of heavy/binge drinking (like binge drinking throughout your entire pregnancy).  That’s what they told me since I was a little concerned when I found out I was farther than I thought I was and realized I had been really drunk in Vegas over 3-4 days.

Most miscarriages are due to genetics or other abnormalities…all things that are outside of your control.
