I was at the shopping centre getting a prescription filled and in order to get to the chemist I had to walk past one of those shopping centre baby photography booths. One of the ladies (who was not a stick giure herself) came up to me and asked how many months prgenant I am. I replied, “I’m not.” She went red faced really quickly and started trying to back peddle saying “oh I’m so sorry. You just look so glowing and happy. I thought you were in early pregnancy” I smiled and walked away.
It’s the middle of winter here. I’m wearing a maxi dress, which is tied at my waist and a cardigan, so my figure isn’t really even shown anyway lol. I honestly think she was just trying to make a sale, but now I’m thinking maybe I should try to lose a few kilos. LOL.
Does this happen to other people too, or just me? lol.

While ordering at Wendy’s the cashier asked how far along was I? Probably one of the few times I was left speechless. Started dieting immediately after that and lost 30lbs. So I guess in away i should thank the cashier for reminding me I was 2 burgers away from using an electric cart at walmart. 🙂

What an asshole!! Sorry you had to hear that. Sometimes I wonder if people think that about me cuz I’ve gained my pop belly back & even say to myself wow I look pregnant.

@krayzay87: yeah, my family makes a lot of pregnant comments to me and it’s very annoying. My mom and aunt thought I was in denial about being pregnant even though my OBGYN tested me and everything. Also, I have this thing called feelings lol.

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago!! I was cashing out at a gas station, coffee and gum. I WAS wearing a cotton blouse that had tie type of thing under my boobs, so yes, the shirt billows out at the belly. Regardless, the lady asked me how far along I was, and where did I get that maternity shirt?! I replied “I am NOT preggo, and this shirt was older, so not in stores most likely”. She quickly stammered she was sorry, that I am SKINNY much like her daughter-in-law whom is pregnant, and did not look pregnant, but the top looked maternity. I told her it was fine, thanks for the ummm…compliment…and to have a nice day.
I was very irritated, and at that point second guessing my outfit choice for the day, because I had anxiety that I looked like I was wearing maternity, when really I thought I picked a nice, kinda trendy top to wear to work!!
I DONT CARE IF I AM 9MONTHS ALONG…STOP ASKING WOMEN IF THEY ARE EXPECTING!!

This is exactly why I never ask that question – and I can’t believe that anyone actually does. Unless you know for sure, and how could you possibly know with absolute certainty about a stranger, then don’t say anything.
Sorry, OP. That was not very nice of her!

That’s just plain rude! Hopefully she was embarrassed enough to learn not to ask someone that question again.
I’ve never had a stranger ask me, but once my mom asked “Is there any way you could be pregnant right now??” Thanks ma!

@MrsPanda99: EXACTLY and it could cause real hurt to someone if they are not pregnant but really long to be. Just don’t even go there!

People like that need to be punched in the face.

It happened to me at the nail salon about a month ago. I was wearing a shirt that did not look the best and possibly was a bit tight. That day, I was a bit bloated and I carry all of my weight in my belly. I’ve lost around 50 lbs in the past 2 years so it was a blow to me. In a way, I do not want to go to that nail salon again.

It happened to me many years ago, I ran into a former co-worker of mine while at the grocery store. She happened to be my cashier, and asked me something to the effect of how soon I was due (ouch). I looked at her, confused, but didn’t even respond. Later when I got home, I realized that the slip-on beach cover up I was wearing made me look preggo. Ack!! To this day, I have not worn that thing anywhere outside of the house.

I never ask (even if it’s very obvious to me that a woman is pregnant) and I can’t believe there are so many people who do. If I see a baby emerging from your vagina I might say something; otherwise, nope. Not gonna mention it.
I started showing early and had strangers asking me my due date/how far along as early as 14 weeks! I had a small belly, yes, but I could have just as easily eaten a big lunch.
