Updating with the proposal story! Apologies for the length. 🙂
We got into Paris via the Eurostar on the 28th, around 6pm or so. After checking into to our hotel later on and freshening up, we headed out to sightsee and eat dinner. There was some beautiful weather on this night, albeit very windy. So much in fact, I almost had myself a Marilyn Monroe moment when I walked over an air grate (was wearing a flowy summer dress)!
We chose to eat at a nice Italian restaurant on the Champs-Élysées called Pizza Vesuvio. Very nice place, if a bit expensive. But worth every bit spent. Loved it!
We walked outside after finishing dinner, and by this point it had started raining! It was cold to boot. At least it was to me. I started complaining to FI (!), that I was freezing as we were walking back.We started heading in the direction of our hotel and he mentions that he could see the Eiffel Tower all lit up. I remembered that my mom wanted pictures of it, so I ducked under a shop entrance and snapped a few pics. Then we continued on our way for a few more minutes.
Suddenly, he pulls me to a stop, puts his arm around me, and kisses me. Afterwards I asked him, “Isn’t the hotel this way?” He points out that we can see the Eiffel Tower even closer from where we were. He kisses me again and then says, “I’m not really good with words..” then gets down on one knee.
I started crying and said “Oh my God, are you serious?!” He then said, “It would make me the happiest man in the world if you would be my wife.”
Of course, I said yes! And all the while, a group of people watching nearby started clapping and cheering!
Totally surprised me cause I thought for sure he was going to do it on my birthday (29th). 🙂 He mentioned to me later that he was cursing the rain as we were walking out of the restaurant, haha. But it was still a romantic proposal. I would not have had it any other way!
Here’s another picture of the ring. And to answer @wrkbrk: Yes they are blue diamonds. The ring itself is from Kays. 🙂
