The man of my dreams proposed to me in Formetera (an island off the coast of Ibiza, Spain) this July!!!!
Our wedding will take place in May 2013 (we are paying for everything ourselves… that’s how much it will take us to save the 30k we want for the wedding and honeymoon)…
Is it too early to buy a dress now? I adore the Pronovias Formentera dress (although I havent tried it on, but I’m sure it will look great with my body style).
And, I mean… is the name not a sign?????? LOL
I am afraid that stores will stop carrying Formentera if I wait closer to the date. There is also someone selling a Formentera *in my size* on Preownedgowns.
But is it so early that I maybe will get buyer’s remorse later?
Help!!! Has anyone purchased their dress so early on?
PS… our engagement in Formenetera on Playa D’Arenales

Congrats on your engagement! And yes it is too early to buy a dress for May 2013. I would wait till atleast may 2012 to seriously consider buying a dress. There will be so many newer styles out there that you will love even more.

First off, Welcome and Congrats!!
Formentera, beautiful island, beautiful dress. It was on my short list for a very long time. I tried it on in 2 stores (one was a trunk show). I can tell you that I was just at the NYC Pronovias store 2 days ago and they sold their formentera sample last month so they will be discontinuing it soon (I don’t know how soon).
I loved the dress, the embroidery and small beading, the tulle petals its all so gorgeous and dreamy. Whether or not you will have buyer’s remorse depends on your personality. It is a long way to go. There are dresses that are similar, but I’m biased toward Pronovias.

I personally would say that it depends on the type of person you are. For me, that may seem like fate and I wouldn’t be able to resist trying it on, and buying it if it felt wonderful on.
However, I am not one for dress regret. I see a LOT of posts on the Bee about dress regret, and if I kept trying on dresses or oggling them, I might start to feel that way too – so I don’t haha. I LOVE my dress, and I’m sure I’d love plenty others as well.
If you’re more indecisive and have no idea what you want for your wedding, I’d wait. It would be fate if they kept it in stock until you’re ready to commit.
Good luck and congratulations on the engagement!!!! Or should I say “Felicidades!”

Welcome to WB! What a great story to go with the gown. If there is a chance they will discontinue it I would go ahead and buy it, and it is a stunning gown.
