I didn't even shop around for a florist at all, honestly I used the first one I found that my venue recommended! So relieved :)

Of course, I'm not 100% sure yet what exactly all is in my quote because we really haven't gotten down to a super detailed level yet. I'm going really seasonal with the majority of my flowers though, which is probably going to help a lot with the $$.

Seasonal should be a big help. Also, going with fewer types of flowers helps keeps costs down as well. Good luck with your flowers!

Nice!! That's the best feeling. To be honest, I bet you can negotiate for even lower prices. When I got my first florist quote I almost cried. But I took a look at everything, decided I really wanted to work with them, and told them I needed them to come down on some items. They ended up slashing 30-50% off some things. It's worth a shot!

@EAQ- thanks for the tip! I may try to negotiate a little lower. We're basically going with a few seasonal flower types (wedding is in May so nice selection I think) plus roses (are they ever out of season?) and that's pretty much it. I'm thinking to save costs I may have the flowers that will be hanging on the chairs during the ceremony moved for the reception and just have a vase that they can be stuck in for the guest book table, gift table, and maybe even use one instead of a toss bouquet. Plus my venue has a lot of character already, so I'm thinking of just doing some nice seasonal bouquets for centerpieces, nothing too dramatic.

That's great, you're lucky!  The two florists we've met with so far have been twice our budget (which was not that small!).  Time to start negotiating...

That's awesome! My step-mom is doing our flowers and that is the one thing I'm worried about going overbudget on. She agreed to give us free labor (which is the easy part of the quote) and have us pay for the wholesale cost of the flowers! But, updated and ACCURATE price lists are hard to come by when it's not the summer season. She didn't have a price list from last year saved (may have gotten tossed when she cleaned out her office), so we are kinda fly by the seat of our pants on flowers. But to hear you were that far under budget makes me feel better!

We're going with seasonal flowers in simple arrangements, so I hope we're in the clear on our budget. I just worry because I read so many other people's budgets and they seem outrageous!

See now I'm kind of thinking I am getting ripped off by my florist. She is a FAKE flower florist, and I am paying almost 1000 bucks for everything. What all are you getting in your floral package?

That is so awesome! Congratulations for finding such a deal :)

@hltruax: She only works with fake flowers? What is included in your package? I know a lot of people go with fake flowers in an attempt to lessen their floral costs, but they can actually get pretty pricey! If you stick with seasonal buds or roses you can still get a decent price for real flowers.

    This is my package:

    9 Bouts

    6 Corsages

    Bridal Bouquet & Toss Bouquet

    MOH Bouquet

    2 BM Bouquets

    2 Alter arrangements

    12 Pew Bows

    12 Cascading Centerpices

    Bridal Party Table Centerpiece

    4 Cake Toppers

It was only going to be about 700 but now we're looking at about 1000. Is this a rip off? I think it's alot of stuff however it is all fake.

@ miss burgundy, since I'm having my wedding in spring too, what are the seasonal flowers, like I know tulips are but those will definately be out of my price range. I know absolutely nothing about flowers! lol

@hltruax-I don't have a lot of experience, but I think you're fine. Burgundy said she was 1k UNDER budget, so that's not what she's paying. = )

I am just going throught www.growersbox.com. I am doing DIY carnations.

Lol I know nothing about flowers either!! Let's see, we haven't got into specifics yet but I poked around online for spring flowers and I'm seeing:

    tulips (don't like them!)

    anemones

    snapdragons

    lilac

    peonies

I for sure need to have a discussion with my florist about it though, on my to do list. I'll post back when I find out, and if anyone else knows about spring flowers please do the same? :)
