I sent out invites today – we didn’t send Save-The-Date Cards. My wedding is June 18. RSVP date May 18. My Maid/Matron of Honor and several friends I work with told me I shouldn’t send them out this soon and that most people would throw away (by accident) or lose the invites/RSVPs because it is so far in advance. Am I crazy for sending this soon? I thought this was the normal time.

I don’t think you are early.

You are not crazy at all. You sent it out 2 months in advance and are giving one month to rsvp, that is totally completely normal. I received an invitation for a June 11th wedding about a month ago. You are perfectly on track, no one will throw them out or lose them.

Thank you =) That helps relieve a lot of my worries! I know I can’t please everyone, but I really hate when people don’t agree with some of my wedding choices. I’m sure that’s normal, though =)

I sent mine at the end of March for our June 5 wedding. You’re not too early at all! Do you have lots of out of town guests? Maybe your friends who already knew your date think it’s too early, but other guests might like the advance notice.

You’re at what, 10 weeks? If you have a lot of guests traveling, then it’s perfect. Even so, “they” say 6-8 weeks. If people are too dumb to not to keep the invite or rsvp, they don’t need to be at your wedding.

Umm no! you are not early! And whoever tells you different tell them to get over it! jk

Totally normal. Don’t worry.

I got my Cousin’s invite last week for her Wedding in July. I think SHE is a little early, but it’s gonna sit on my fridge and I’m sending my RSVP back soon, (just so I won’t lose it).
So, no. I don’t think you’re too early!

We have the same date, and we sent ours out on Friday for our semi-destination wedding (RSVP date is also May 18). I don’t think it’s too early at all!

I think you’re right on time. No worries.

Pfft, I just dropped mine off about 4 minutes ago because, well, even though my wedding is over the 4th of July weekend, I received 10 texts over the weekend from folks asking about hotels and stuff. Oh well, I just decided to mail the ones for the Out of Town guests so they can make reservations.

Not too early at all!! I’m a week later, and I’m struggling to hold off putting mine in the mail RIGHTTHISVERYMINUTE. 🙂 I’ll probably do it in about a week, so about the same as you. Most wedding etiquette I’ve seen says between 2 and 3 months, so you’re right in the sweet spot.

I’m getting married July 9, planning mailing them out on May 2, which is 6 weeks before my deadline of June 10. I want enough time to follow up with folks. But if I can get them out earlier, I will. We should finish the printing later this week, but I want to send them to my parents and a few other people to “test” the invites.
