So this is my first “babies” post. Just to introduce myself, I’m 33 and Hubby is 34 (in a few weeks). We’ve been married since August but wanted to speed up the baby making due to my age. I read “Taking Charge of Your Fertility” and man, did we. This was our first month TTC and I got a + UPT on Sunday. I’m feeling about 80% excited/happy and about 20% freaked out (which I think is pretty good). I go to the doctor next Tuesday so more info then. Two questions for you. How did you keep from blurting out this news to everyone you know? And do (or did) any of you have a husband who is now trying to tell you how to eat and exercise? Mine is making me a little nuts. Thanks, ladies!

Congratulations!!!!! I’m sure your husband is very impressed with himself on such speedy results.. I know mine would be : ) I’m not pregnant yet but my husband has already made all sorts of comments about what I will eat and what I will “be allowed” to do and not do when I’m pregnant. He’s an athlete so a bit of a health nut. I just laugh it off and tell him that when he is the one who has to push the baby out.. only THEN can he dictate what happens during the pregnancy.

Congrats! I’m 32 and he’s 33. We want to start trying later this year because of the age thing too. Good luck!

Congrats! Sounds a little like my hubby. But really he was on my case about slacking in my work-outs BEFORE I was even pregnant 🙂
He doesn’t really get to ‘do’ anything for the next 9 months so take it as his way to help take care of and grow the baby and be ‘involved’. Try to remember it’s sweet – even though it is ANNOYING too.
I snuck a 1/2 glass of wine while on a trip a couple weekends ago and made my friends SWEAR not to tell my hubby! haha. He would FREAK – even though it’s considering totally ok 🙂
Also – I held off for about 2 weeks before I told my mom and bestie. Told my bro about 5weeks after we found out. And told everyone else at 13 weeks. It was MUCH harder than I thought to keep the news a secret. I so wanted to blast it from the rooftops! I also told my boss pretty soon – but he’s like family and I was super sick.

Mine didn’t really, but I just wanted to say congrats!

Ha, my hubby thought he was going to tell me what to eat and do as well, must be a guy thing. He made his suggestions and helped me make some better choices but in the end it was my responsibility to take care of myself which in turn took care of the baby.
As for not telling the family… I can’t even tell you. I talk to my Mom everyday. It was soooo hard to keep it from her. I was going to wait and come up with a great way of telling our parents and sibs only but the hubs just wanted them to know. We did have rules which everyone stuck to which was to wait and tell the rest of the family when we were ready.

Congrats!! That is exciting news.
We told our parents and some very good friends early on, but kept it a secret otherwise until 12 weeks. It was hard but it also felt like such a special thing to have to ourselves, I kind of enjoyed it being ours for a while.
My husband never says anything to me about food or exercise luckily – your husband clearly just means well for the baby, but there is a good chance that at some point in the next month you will have zero energy for exercise and he will need to be supportive and understanding. Get him to read up on what you are going through so he can try to channel his good intentions in a way that is supportive to you!!

Congratulations!! What a crazy fun ride you’ve just embarked upon 🙂
Please post on the baby list thread with your due date and we’ll add you to the list!
