Oh, I'm so glad you decided! That's so gorgeous. I also really love that you posted the traditional text in english. I am a kebutah newb.
Can't wait to see the result!
How intricate and absolutely gorgeous! I love the Tree of Life motif. Excellent choice, Spaniel! :o)
Thanks, ladies! It was actually the comments on the post that helped convince him. ;) "Babe, the 'hive likes the papercut better, but if you think it's too expensive I'll defer." "Okay, we can get the papercut. As long as we can put it on a green background."
Wow! That's so beautiful!
I have to say that of all other religions' traditions, the one I'm most jealous of as a Catholic is the ketubah!
I'm so happy you went with that one...I was secretly rooting for it! It's stunning and classic and will forever look beautiful in your home.
ooo it'll look so pretty on a green background Spaniel!! I'm so excited for you!
I guess I missed your pp on this!?
I've always loved nature inspired ketubahs (think tree of life) the most, but the detail of your ketubah is so striking & beautiful! I love, love, love the papercut! :)
You definitely made a great choice Spaniel!
@RB: You changed your avatar! So confusing! ;) The previous post was on the blog yesterday. :)
What a great choice, so beautiful! Love the lush papercut, and the crowning "siman tov u mazel tov" and "ani le dodi ve dodi li" texts. Congrats!
Nice choice! My fiancé and I have literally been looking for 6 months for a ketubah that we BOTH love, since it's a statement of our love and since it will be hanging in our home for us to admire every day. As soon as I think I like one, I find something about it that isn't my taste -- a verse that I don't like, English translation that doesn't say enough, colors that are too out there or not out there enough. He likes a lot of the geometric ultra-modern ones. I just don't know if I'll enjoy looking at one in that style forever. It's really frustrating, and I wish there were just THE ONE out there that works for both of us.

We ended up ordering a custom ketubah from Stephanie Caplan. She was willing to translate our english text that we composed with our rabbi into Hebrew. She created a gorgeous acorn and oak leaf border for our fall themed wedding. She has a few different price points, including putting the text within a pre-done border.

After my post went up today, Mr. S finally agreed--paper cut ketubah it is (which is particularly awesome, since we had that conversation about a month ago!). We ordered this ketubah and we'll be finalizing our custom text this weekend. It was a huge blow to the bottom line ($620 WITH a coupon!) but it's so beautiful and we'll be displaying it in our home for the rest of our lives together. Our officiant/family friend is also a framer and is framing it for us as a wedding gift. Very excited!!
