I never thought I would look at a dress with black and think it looked sweet.  Its adorable and sexy at the same time!  However, I sometimes don’t love the look of dresses that length once they get shortened.  They don’t seem to lay right.  I suppose it may just need to be done by a really good seamstress, but I, personally, would think twice about altering it.  Great choice though!

@Someday_Mrs_Maguire:  Congratulations! 🙂

I’m a tea-length dress bride as well; with a 1950s theme. I really like the dress as-is, length-wise. However, adding the straps would be super cute! Hope you can find a close enough satin piece — just make sure the base of the straps that will be attached to the main bodice start wide. (Kind of like a triangular shape, in front)

Sort of like the straps on this dress on Unique Vintage, minus the cotton fabric:

@Someday_Mrs_Maguire:  That’s a gorgeous dress. I was looking at something similar when I was wedding dress shopping except the one I was looking at was knee-length. Keep us posted!

@Someday_Mrs_Maguire:  my mom bought her MOB dress here..and I bought both of my bridal shower dresses at JJHouse too…the quality is amazing.  When I took them to the seamstress…she couldn’t believe how good of quality and stitching it was!  I love that dress…congrats!
