That's what we're doing!!! We're not doing it instead of a guestbook but almost in place of a unity candle. The stones will represent everyone who was a part of our day and we can display it in our house after the wedding as a keepsake!
They used fine tip sharpie markers on polished river rocks.

Instead of having a traditional guest book A couple had guests write messages on small, flat, smooth stones that were placed in a glass jar for them to keep. At the off beat bride site you can see a photo. One guest wrote "Rock On!"
I LOVE THIS IDEA!
