My FI and I got engaged three weeks ago and are so ready to marry each other that we jumped right into planning. In those two weeks, we’ve:
-found a venue we love and booked it
– selected bridesmaids and groomsmen
– picked out my wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses
– booked an officiant, ceremony musicians, and a videographer
– narrowed it down to two reception bands and one photographer.
– sent out our flower needs out for bid with 3 florists
– negotiated hotel blocks with two hotels and signed with them
– picked the wedding invitation and save the date card
Our venue does the catering and the cake so we don’t have to hire that out. I feel like we’re almost done even though I’m sure we’re not!!!

PS I think it so awesome that you are planning so quickly! Your big day will be here before you know it!

@mojitolady: Good job! My DH & I got married 8 months after we were engaged & we planned most of the wedding within the first four months! Sounds like you got this! Have fun!!

Thanks, ladies! It helps that I’m a wedding planner or else I would be so lost!

@MrsRichard: You’re right…people are sometimes misled into thinking it takes over a year when it really doesn’t. People can plan effectively in the time they have – whether that’s 4 months or 14 months. That said, it does help that I’m a wedding planner so I have a pretty good idea of what’s available and who I want to work with.
MrsSweetT: Ooh, a date twin! Are you choosing to incorporate Valentine’s elements into your wedding or ignore them completely? I’m ignoring it although I will say it’s been challenging to find rehearsal dinner venues for Valentine’s evening given everyone is going out to a lovey dovey dinner with their SO.

Another date twin here! I’ve been planning since last Aug and you’re a lot farther along than me. I hear it all the time, so I’ll ask you. Why did you choose Feb 15? It’s the date we first started dating and he began his job, so it hopefully will make it easier for him to remember.

Best day to get married!
By the time we get married, we’ll have been planning on and off for a year – we had our venue booked in Feb of this year. But there was lots of downtime in that as well, so I probably could’ve gotten it done in a shorter period!
