This is so dependant on a million things. We you regular before? How long were you taking BC? The type of bc. Some people get regular and pregnant in one to two cycles. Some people take several months. Some people get a period really quickly after they stop bc then get irregular again.  For me, I stopped bc 11 months ago, and have 60-80 day cycles still. I wasn’t super regular before anyway and I know my mom had issues and took a couple years to get pregnant so I kind of expectexpected it. We are also not so gung ho as some bees are with charting and temping at such.

I was regular with the first cycle and appeared to ovulate according to my chart. I was doing acupuncture for fertility and no idea if it helped but I was VERY surprised to have 26-day cycles immediately. I wanted a few months to regulate and chart to become familiar and recognize and problems I might have. Charted 2 26-day and one short 20-day (short LP due to heavy exercise… I was race training) before TTC 4th cycle. Pregnant first cycle and 27 weeks now!

@mrsbreakingbad:  I was on NuvaRing for 6 months. I didn’t ovulate the first cycle off but did on the second cycle and got a BFP (ended in mc at 7 weeks).  My SIL recently got off the pill.  She was on the pill for 10 years.  Her first two cycles were 40 days long and didn’t ovulate.  She just had her third cycle and finally ovulated on CD17.  We were both so excited that her cycle finally got back to normal, as you can see we’re really close and talk about everything!  In the end everyone’s body is different so you just have to be patient and see what happens.  I strongly suggest temping and taking opk’s.  I did this for 3 cycles post mc and am so happy I stuck to it.  Now all I take is opk’s around the fertile week but it’s great getting to know your body and knowing that it’s doing what it’s supposed to be.  Good luck and I hope you get your BFP really soon!

I think it’s really hard to say…you won’t know until you go through it.

I was on BCP for 16 years and I got pregnant the first month I was off (within a couple weeks of coming off).  So I have no idea how my cycles would have been if I hadn’t gotten pregnant.  Last time I was off BCP I was 13 and my cycles were irregular/abnormal (my cycles were like 20 days or less and I spent 14 of them having a period).  So it’s possible they just regulated over time as I got older.  At the time I went off I was just happy I didn’t start bleeding heavily 2 weeks after I stopped them!

I got off BCP after my last pack in Dec. In Jan, AF came 1 day earlier than my BCP 28 day schedule! However, I am still waiting to see if my cycles are regular or not going forward. I am hoping they are but there is no way of telling!

It’s so different for everyone! I stopped BC in November and my first cycle off BC was 28 days. Then my second cycle was 31 days and my third was 34 days. We are planning to TTC in June so hopefully my cycles stay around the 30 day mark. Good luck with everything!

I’ve never tried to get pregnant, but when I came off birth control it took about 6 months to get back to completely regular cycles.

There are a lot of threads about this already, and the moral of the story in most is that every single woman is different, every single time. I was on BCP for about 10 years before getting off last May, when I started charting to avoid and get to know my cycles. I got regular pretty much right away, and it took us three months to conceive when we started trying.

There’s just no way to know, but good luck!

I stopped BCP Dec 1 after 10 years. I had the regular withdrawal bleed about a week after. About 22 days after that I had my regular period. I don’t know if I ovulated that month or not. In January DH and I started TTC and I got pregnant the first month we tried. So it is possible to regulate quickly, but I don’t know how common/uncommon it is. We got very lucky, but fertility runs in both of our families, so we lucked out. I was very regular before going on BCP, and I think that factored into how quickly I regulated after wards.

Good luck!!

I got off birth control at the beginning of December and did not ovulate the first cycle which lsated 31 days. I ovulated on CD 15 the next cycle and got pregnant.

@mrsbreakingbad:  I just came off BCP in December and we were ttc right away. My first cycle was 26 days and I am currently in day 26 of my 2nd cycle and no signs of AF yet. Because it is only my second cycle I am not sure what to expect? I was on BCP for over 10 years but from what I remember I was pretty regular before.

My best friend on the other hand went off BCP at the beginning of 2013 and her cycles were about 90 days long until she went on medictipn to make them regular.

I was on the pill for 12 years and got pregnant my 2nd cycle after stopping.  I was regular from the get-go: a 28-29 day cycle.  I tracked everything via an app on my phone.

I never had withdrawal bleeding but I was an emotional mess!

Commenting so I can follow this thread also…

I just got off the nuvaring the week after Christmas, after being on it for 7+ years. I got my first AF as usual and then 2nd AF was a weird one – basically spotting (brown) for a few days on time, and then skip a day, heavy bleeding for 2 days, skip a day, heavy again for a total of 7 days. Now I am -what I’m guessing is- CD 12 and spotting again. :/ Looks like it may take me a few months to get back to normal.
