Woo hoo! it’s fantastic. Love it. And yes, I cried in the first five minutes of it.
And at some point in my wedding planning, I can see there will be one issue where learning the lesson of the "Kobayashi Maru" will help me when dealing with a difficult vendor or issue..lol!

I agree with you. AWESOME movie! I didn’t know what I would think of it since I’ve never been a Trekkie, but it was amazing! I almost cried at the beginning too! Def better than I thought it would be!

My fiance has been begging me to see this with him, but unfortunately we’ve both been sidelined this weekend with the flu. We are planning on seeing the movie sometime this week as a wedding stress reliever!
Btw, I’ve never seen ANY episodes of Star Trek or any of the other movies. Will I be totally lost or can I still enjoy the movie?

I’ve heard that anyone can enjoy this movie, that it’s not just for "trekkies" … I’m kind of looking forward to seeing it and am surprised that as much as FI wants to see it that we haven’t seen it yet!

I had never seen ANY Star Trek related thing before this movie (proof– on the way to the theater, I asked my brother why exactly they were flying around in space to begin with!) and I really enjoyed it. They explain anything you need to know. I totally recommend it!
@bellenga … I cried too! Like a baby 🙂

I too absolutely loved it. My boss took me and my co-worker to see the movie as a "Team Building" event and left work early to see it! I never really were into the series or movies but I was definitely impressed with this one. It actually makes me want to see the past movies.
The good thing about this movie is that you don’t really have to know much about Star Trek to enjoy it. I didn’t find myself lost at all.

They did a great job with the movie! I’m not that into Star Trek, but I knew enough to tell they were going with a whole new storyline. It’s great that they set it up for another one because I really like this new cast. The Casting Director made some excellent picks with those actors!

Ok, so what if you HATED Star Trek before? Think I would enjoy it still? My mother and husband both love Star Trek, so I’m thinking about going with them. Maybe they could have some MIL/SIL bonding…

I’m not quite a Trekkie , but I’m damn close and it was SOOOOO GOOOOOOOD!!! I’m not sure if you "hated" Star Trek you won’t totally enjoy it , because , it still is Star Trek. I have to say I’m VERY glad they put as many Star Trek cliches in it. I’d say about 95% of the theatre I was in did not get some of the jokes and I was getting looks for giggling at some parts.

As a kid growing up I watched it..but think it’s great for first timers. My son LOOOVES it and is pressing us to take him to see it again. I just don’t want to cry thru the first five minutes again though…
I hate to admit it, but the new Cap. Kirk is a hottie! A girl can STILL look..that’s ok! lol!

Russell BEGGED me to see this with him… I was so not into it. But once I saw it, I was hooked. Do I have to get glasses with tape in the middle now? hehe
It really was a good movie. I am not into Star Trek and I thought it was cute.
