So this weekend was my first dress fitting and it did not go as well as I had hoped. I was nervous going into it because I had convinced myself that the dress wouldn’t fit thanks to too many stress-snacks and no exercise. But that wasn’t the case at all. The dress fit and needed to be taken in. The problem was that I wasn’t in love with the dress anymore. 🙁
It’s stiff, it’s brand-spankin’ new and when I look at myself in the mirror I’m not thinking…”look at that beautiful bride”, like I was when I bought the thing. Instead I am going over every little detail…what my arms look like…that it doesn’t make my waist look as tiny anymore…the annoying sound it makes when I walk across the room. UGH!!!! My wedding is in 39 days. There’s no way to do anything about this now. I just need to deal with my disappointment and move on, I suppose. Has anyone else experienced this? I mean, I know a lot of people have dress regret…but has anyone basically had to suck it up and wear this dress that you’re not all that in love with anymore?

Im sorry your going through this, I think its normal though to go through it WITH the wedding approaching so soon! Right now, youll be thinking twice about verything..– EVERYTHING. Im sure you look amazing in your dress- rememer why you chose it in the first place 🙂 Dont be so critical about it- or about yourself. I was and still am madly in love with my gown but evn though I still dont have it – now I keep finding prettier ones that I think I would wnt. Its normal to feel that way :). on your wedding day, youll have ur make up done perfectly and your smile is going to make your dress absolutely gorgoues!!!

Oh my! I TOTALLY without a doubt know how you feel. I have been that way with my ring, dress, colors of decor and all. I picked my dress up on March 2nd, got home tried it on and feel the exact same way you do. mines is heavy and not making my waist look as tiny as it did when i chose it! plus I am not a fan of my train. huhhhhhhhh why does it have to be this stressful. I see on TV brides going through the stress of planning a wedding all the time and think to myself “why would they want a wedding if it’s this stressful” I never thought I would feel like this. I am sure it will get better though. one thing i am teaching myself is to STOP looking at everything daily i have picked out. once you keep looking at it daily it gets old to you and you want to change it. get your alterations, hair and makeup done and you will feel fab!

Just keep in mind that the dress hasn’t been altered to fit you yet. I have an issue everytime I put my dress on or look at pictures but I just keep reminding myself once all of the alterations are done it will be gorgeous

Thanks, bees for your words of support. It helps with the mixed-emotions, for sure.

Is it just little things or the whole dress you are unhappy with? Little things can be fixed. In fact, bigger things can be fixed. What did you love about it the first time? If you are really unhappy, maybe find a sample you can buy instead that would available right away. But chances are if you loved it once, you will love it again. Check with your seamstress about what you don’t love on it.

I’m feeling the same way as you! With only 31 days left my options are limited 🙁 I loved my dress when I bought it – it made me look “smaller” and I felt comfortable. Now that I’ve lost 26 pounds (and counting) I don’t feel the dress does me justice!
I think however, I’m just going to suck it up 🙁 Sucks but I don’t have the brain power to go dress shopping again and last minute.
