Hi everyone. My fiance has his k-1 visa meeting in less than a week and hopefully should be here before Christmas, which I am so excited for. However, I am starting to get really stressed! Planning a wedding in 90 days AND applying for his AOS is really making me nervous. I just don’t see how it can be done.
Apparently you should apply for AOS before his K-1 expires, but I wanted to get married at the last possible moment to give us time to plan everything, but it doesn’t seem like that is a possibility and I don’t know what to do. So stressed.
Does anyone have any experience or advice they can offer. Thanks ladies.

@mrsellix: I can’t offer advice, but, as another K-1 bride, I wanted to say good luck.
What a lot of people do is have a legal wedding within the 90 days, then plan a larger wedding ceremony is for when they have the time. People on this board tend to criticise that, but most of them have never had to go through anything even vaguely comparable to a K-1 process.
FI and I are planning a very cheap wedding for a time we expect to have the visa, and hoping for the best. If possible, based on averages, we hope to recieve the visa between March and June some time, and enter in August (so I can finish my work contract). We then hope to marry in October.

@farawayviolet: Thanks! That’s actually what we decided to do. He got approved in his meeting on Friday (yay!), and will hopefully if place ticket prices cooperate and his visa paperwork doesn’t take too long to get here, he will be here before Christmas and we will be married in the court house either in the end of Dec. or early January. The biggest reason we decided this, besides the stress, was that we read that he basically cannot legally work until after the wedding and then he still has to wait a bit for work authorization with the AOS. Who knew love had to be so complicated???

@mrsellix: I get that. I hate the fact that as a capablr, hardworking adult I will be unable to work/ contribute.
