Hi All, the dress that I really love is based on Kate Middleton’s dress. It’s a new dress from Mary’s Bridal. The neckline is a little rounder than hers, but the rest of the dress is very similar.
Do you think people will make comments about that? My wedding is all the way next year. I know I should not care, but I am worrying about it.
P.S. I always liked this style of dress with the jacket, it looks more religious, my wanting the wedding dress has nothing to do with the royal wedding thing.

@Garnety: I think her dress was beautiful. I think David Bridal has done a knock-off of it, too.
I think anyone who was interested in their wedding, at the least, would probably recognize it just because it was such an iconic (if not for style, who was getting married, etc.) moment. Personally, I wouldn’t care if they noticed or not… I think it would be kind of cool if they *did* notice. If you like something and want to emulate it (to a certain degree), have at it. To me, that dress was/is freakin’ gorgeous.
Some people, I’m sure, will say comments about why not have your own, etc. but you do what you want… its your wedding day! People emulate celebrities/royalty/people in the spotlight all the time.
In short, work that dress, Garnety!! 🙂

Personally I love the dress and if YOU do too, you should wear it. You will look beautiful and classic.

I think there are going to be a lot of people wearing Kate’s dress this winter and into probably April/March, much like their are a lot of brides who wore and will wear the Chelsea Clinton style Vera from DB. Just because its recognizable doesn’t make it bad.
Plus, it will look completely different on you unless you look exactly like her. In fact, if you were a blonde, MY first thought would be “Ooo, so Grace Kelly”…either way, evoking a princess is a good first impression. Also, you will accesorize it, make it your own. Just don’t ad a 11 carat sapphire ring and I think you are fine 😉

Thanks for your kind words, ladies!

I desperately wanted a lace dress with lace sleeves for my wedding, but unfortunately never found a place where I could try one on! This was before the royal wedding. I say go for it, you’re lucky enough to have the perfect dress. 🙂

I’m going to be wearing something like that (the top part with lace sleeves) but mine is tea length and skirt is tulle.

There are a lot of designers that are using the Kate dress as inspiration. Rosa Clara is one of my favorites. She has lace overlays you can put on any dress. This one is definitely influenced by Grace Kelly and Kate.
You can see that this dress is definitely influenced by Kate aswell. This is from their 2012 collection.
