Haha, I've heard from people in my hometown that she's like that in real life too. I  avoid the show on principle, she thought her kids were too good for my old elementary school and I resent that (so what if it's in a cornfield)

She is a cold fish

Kate is a neurotic person with severe OCD, who needs constant control of everything around her.  She should have NEVER had 8 children.  She may have been fine with one, or I guess maybe two.  But, after Mady and Cara, she should have stopped.  This is why I feel mental evaluations should be done before someone gets in-vitro.  She clearly has mental issues.  She did not need this many kids.  She can't handle it.  I wouldn't be surprised if she dies of a heart attack or if her head pops right off of her neck.

I've defended Kate before.  Like I've said, when I get in stressful situations, I act snappy and mean.  I don't mean to, its' just my coping mechanism.  With eight children, I couldn't imagine how horrible I'd be.
