Our landlords would like a doctor's note to cover their bases with other tenants in case they complain, but that's no big deal as we have a wonderful pediatrician who has guided us through this process.
I'm excited! We will be taking DH to the shelter tomorrow to meet our new cat we've chosen, and we pick her up on Friday once the adoption is settled! Yay! Thanks to all who gave well wishes and advice :)
Yes! I have been waiting for this post. So happy for you and your daughter, I bet she is going to be so excited when she gets her own kitty.
Yay!!! I'm so happy that they are going to let you have the cat. Please keep us updated on your daughter's progress with the cat. I am so intrigued by this type of therapy.

I so hope the kitty we chose will still be there, but she's been there since April, so odds are good! I'm going to send an email to the volunteer I spoke to and check before we go tomorrow. If not I am interested in 2 others that were very nice as well.

As far as the name, I like Lulu, DH likes Tango. We're going to see if DD comes up with a name of her own!

Let me recommend the best cat toy EVER--Cat Dancer. Most of my cats have had varying levels of interest in toys. But this one universally has been a favorite. We have to hide it (can't even show them where I put it) or they just sit, stare and meow for it.

Well I'm going to the shelter at 2 to see if she's still there. If so I'll fill out the adoption paperwork and they can call our landlord for permission. Then if all goes well on Friday I will bring them a check and take her home!
Yaaay, congrats! Be sure to show us a picture of the happy kitty when you get him/her :).

And now may I present... Jacques! I had my eye on a female cat but in the end DD had different plans!
Jacques is a 3 year old cat who was found sitting outside of an empty apartment. The people at the shelter believe he was left there when the tenants moved. Jacques has been at the shelter for 5 months, he gets passed over a lot because he is FIV positive. He's very chill and playful. We are going to pick him up on Saturday! We are very happy to finally get this awesome dude a home!

And - I'm not a cat person in ANY shape or form - but Jacques is SOOOO cute!!!!!!! What a wonderful addition!
