This may be too far away, but James P. Davis Hall is inexpensive. It has a kitchen, hardwood floors, tables and chairs included.
You've looked at about as many places as I had! It was SO hard for me to find a place under $2000 that fit my specifications. I ended up booking with the River Market Event Place in Kansas City. They are offering a %20 discount if you sign with them before the end of this year. Because you are looking for a Saturday wedding the price you are needing might be a little more difficult to find. I think this place would be like $2400 with discount for Saturday (but MUCH cheaper on Sunday which is what I'm doing). No tables and chairs but you can bring in your own caterer and alcohol and they have a kitchen.
Good Luck, I wish I could offer more ideas but it looks like you've covered quite a few venues. Let us know what you went with! If I can think of anything else I'll post. :)
dear brides!
thank you for your suggestion!
however my caterer , an asian restaurant, won't be able to drive more than 20 minutes beyond Westport.. b/c he has to bring at least 8 courses of food, and it's a plated course.
i will check out your places!
thank you agian!
Dreamrocker, this might sound kind of crazy, but I happened to stumble across this on Craigslist and figured it wouldn't hurt to share. St. Joe is probably too far, but heck.
I booke my Sept 24th wedding there! Let me know how every thing turns out. Rebekah and her hubby have been great to work with so far. My fiance and I are going to add uplighting for the reception to warm up the place a bit.
Have you contacted Boulevard Brewery to see if they have anything available? When you first look at the cost it appears high but it includes drinks/beer/wine, chairs and tables.
Boulevard Brewery is VERY expensive! Beautiful, but expensive.
That was the first place my fiance and I thought of to have our reception. Saturday reception is $7000 for the venue and alcohol. That does not include food or DJ.
Have you thought about the Air Museum at the downtown airport? (No kitchen, but it's really cool. If our reception wasn't in July we would have booked that, but we didn't want grandparents to die of heat stroke.)

Or the Steamboat Arabia in the City Market?
Nara is really cool, but still a little over what you want to spend. No decorations requried though!
I just looked up Parkway West, they are not booked on May 7.
That's where I'm having my reception. The whole shebang (venue rental, tables/chairs/linens, food, alcohol, DJ) is coming to about $5000 for 100 guests.
Mission Theatre
The community center in Mission
KC Antheanum (no outside catering tho i don't think)
i second, james p. hall
Shawnee Mission Town Hall
I think you are going to have a difficult time finding a saturday venue with outside caterers allowed within 20mi of westport for < $1500. you'll really have to think outside the box - community centers, school gyms, historic sites, etc.
Good luck! let us know what you find!
longview manor? its really pretty and you can rent the barn (its finished so it dosent look like they just moved the horses for your wedding lol

Dear KC brides
I am so ready to cry!
My date is fixed, and all the places I have called are ALL booked..Berg, Arts Incubator, Cellar 222, Local community Rec Centers
Looking for a venue that allows for outside catering, and prefer if they have a kitchen, so the caterers can prep.
Also it'll need to Accomodate 150 people.. ):
Any place within 30 mile radius of KC... Southern KC is okay, but no further North than Power Light District!
I would appreciate any place suggested!
thank you !!
