I keep looking longingly at the name Zara for one of our girls, maybe for a pairing like Zara Winter and Vivian Gray. Clothing shop associations aside, do they work together? I feel like it sounds stronger and more fresh with Vivian Gray (twin 1’s name) than do our other possible pairings with it like Felicity or Philippa.
Thoughts? Middle name possibilities? It did cross my mind that the pairing could sound too Brangelina since Zara is close to Zahara… What do you think? Too close for respectable use? Will the less flowery spelling of Vivian make enough of a difference to lose the Jolie-Pitt connection?

I have a friend who just had a baby and named her Zara. Honestly, I just don’t care for the name. It has nothing to do with the store – I really don’t even think of the store right away when I hear it. I think Vivian Gray sounds classic and sophisticated and I just don’t get that feel with Zara :-/ I guess it just sounds kind of trendy to me.
I hadn’t even thought of the Pitt-Jolie kids with the Zahara/Vivienne connection!
I do really like Felicity though.

@adoc86: Oh, right! I guess I was thinking more along the lines of Zara Phillips and Zara Levina, so it didn’t cross my mind as being particularly ‘trendy’. Food for thought.

Hi UK bride – fellow Brit here!
I like all of your names! I wouldn’t pair Felicity & Philippa together though, as they are a bit matchy although Fliss and Pippa are adorable. Zara & Philippa sound quite royal to me and go well; Zara & Pippa just sound like sisters to me! I also like Vivian & Philippa – Viv and Pip, Vivi and Pippa!
Vivian & Zara sound fine to me too and I definitely prefer Vivian to Vivienne, as it’s not as fussy-looking (unless you’re pronouncing Vivienne as the French do then perhaps you ought to stay with that spelling).
Can’t go wrong with any of these names though! Perhaps wait until your babies are born to choose which suits best from your great short list?
I’d probably opt for Philippa and Vivian.

I’m not a fan of Zara… I definitely don’t equate it with a classic name like Vivian.

I love the name Zara (but prefer the spelling Zahra) but don’t feel like it matches with Vivian – to me Vivian is classic/vintage y, and Zahra is much more modern.
I prefer your other two choices in terms of vintage appeal, but I’m also struggling with the v/f/ph sound combination a little bit. Cute nickname potential though!!

@lunalyra: ooh, zara and pippa are so cute together! Nice pairing 🙂 I also like your suggestion of taking the short list to the hospital, lots of people change their minds once they meet baby (or in this case babies!)

I love the name Vivian! I am not a fan of Zara though.

I’m surprised by the answers you’re getting! i looooove vivian and zara together! i feel like they match because they’re both a little bit unique but won’t cause any trouble for your little ones. everyone will be able to spell/pronounce them. and i love zara winter and vivian gray. i think they’re both beautiful names! i much prefer zara to phillipa or felicity!

@UK Bride: i love both names. i actually like that they are both very different – 1 classic, 1 modern. love the middle names too.

I’m with @mu_t:, I love them together! I think they are both beautiful names! I honestly don’t think it matters if one is classic and one is more modern. They sound cute together and you love them. That’s all that matters.

@UK Bride: I really love Zara and I voted for Zara and Vivian on your poll. I think they go beautifully together! I wouldn’t worry about the whole Brangelina thing. My mind definitely didn’t go there. If you love Zara, I say use it!

I think they go nicely together, but also like Philipa. I just named my baby girl Vivienne, so I love it obviously 🙂

Their nicknames will be Zee & Vee!

I like Zara and Vivian together!
And I think Zara Philippa would make a good first/middle combo with Vivian Gray!
