I would check with your local bridal shops. There are some lines of dresses that are available rush order.. 5 weeks or even less, I believe. Other than that, if you can find a sample you like in your size (which shouldn't be too hard for you, since there are a gazillion bridal shops in the Chi suburbs!) maybe they will let you buy a sample and have it cleaned and altered.
Can you work your original dress into your wedding day at all?
Good luck!!
Eh...if you buy off the rack, you will be fine. But if you are looking to order something, there are only a few companies that are U.S. based and could get your dress here on time. I was in your shoes a month ago and got the run-down from a shop owner. There was one designer in particular that she suggested I go with--Andy Anand--because their dresses shop quickly (but this is a foreign company). But, their dresses look very poorly made. I understand your plight, and it is quite a difficult situation. Have you tried David's Bridal? I wound up having to keep my dress because of time constraints, but I also fell in love with my dress all over again. It doesn't sound like this is the case for you. Also, try the classifieds on Weddingbee or eBay. You would be surprised what treasures you will find! Good luck!
Try White Chicago and Weddings 826 on Armitage. Both are in the city. Both sell sample dresses. White Chicago also resells high end wedding dresses.
I bought my maggie sottero dress off ebay and got it a day later! It was a store sample, so in perfect condition, and it was more than half off retail price!
Heck yeah! I have finally decided on my dress and it is the fourth one! The first one was a custom gown that came out horribly. A friend tried to fix it and it looked better but I still didn't like it. Then I was going with a boho dress and while the dress looked great, it didn't go with my accessories. The third one was an off-the shoulder Nataya dress and it is nice, but then I got another Nataya dress off of eBay for $100 and everyone agrees this one is perfect! I am thrilled. And my wedding is August 7th, 2009!
Make sure to get the dress that will make you feel perfect on your wedding day!! I would try to sell the one you have on ebay, craigslist, or oncewed...and you could buy another one on any of these sites :) Good luck!!!
i finally found THE dress and i am super excited! thanks for all the recommendations!!
You can still buy a sample dress of the rack and have them alter it. That's what one of the girls did at the place where I got my wedding dress at. They only had a week to do it and it turned out fantastic for the wedding.
you have plenty of time, if you want another one. but only if that's what makes you happy :)
You have time, but you might not be able to spread your payments out as much as you would like, and you won't be able to debate for weeks whether or not to get the dress, and you'll definitely have to start shopping around for affordable alterations and get a fitting ASAP...but it's definitely possible!
If you do a super rush on a dress, it can be done in 3 months. You may have to pay a little more though (if they have to put your dress ahead of others to make the October mark).
Congraulations! I am facing the same problem and everyone here just made me realize, I am changing the dress :)
Have a wonderful wedding!!
