Keeping in touch with vendors

posted 5 months ago in Beehive

Hey all.  I tried to be very proactive about booking vendors from my wedding- when i first started looking for reception places I found that most were already booked for fall 2008 (this was fall 2007) so i wanted to get everything booked before I ended up with no options!  That means I haven't really been in touch with some of my vendors in months.  I am thinking about emailing them bc I have this fear that I will find out too late that someone backed out/disappeared/::gulp:: went out of business!  What have those brides who booked in advance done???

Can I just also add that I had my first wedding related nightmare last night? It involved some reception disasters- I'm sure I'm in for more, as my wedding isn't until November

That's a good question, I was wondering that myself....

Go ahead and contact them!  There's no reason not to.  Peace of mind makes it worth it.

Why don't you just write them some random questions just to see if they remember who you are and respond.  Just ask each of them to reconfirm the time that they will show up or set up stuff.  That would work for cake person, photographer, officiant, flowers, quartet, lighting, dj/mc, etc.  And for the other ones, just reconfirm when you will have to return things.  Such as tuxes, chairs, etc.

FutureMrsCodogg,

Go ahead and e-mail or call these said vendors and ask them if they need any additional information from you as the date (mention it and reiterate it) is approaching and to not hesitate to contact you should they need anything.

I think it's fine for you contact them now.  Just let them know you're going to do the bulk of your planning over the summer, and wanted to clarify what they need from you.  i.e. song list, flower choices, etc.  Sometimes they bring up things you have thought of and it takes a couple months to settle all decisions that need to be made.
