As some of you may know, my FH and I are getting married on a yacht cruising a nearby harbor next May. I don’t anticipate having bad weather, but it will be pretty breezy on the ocean. AND I am the type of person who is ALWAYS cold. (My dress is an ivory strapless.)
So I was thinking I need a way to keep myself warm. I have a couple of ideas:
1) A cropped (probably 1/2 to 3/4 length) cardigan in blue (my wedding color).2) A blue pashmina-type thing to wrap myself in.
These would be for if I get cold during the reception (NOT during the ceremony). I also don’t anticipate needing something the entire time though, so I will be able to show off my dress as well.
What do you ladies think of those ideas? Do you have any better ideas? And what did you do/ are you planning to do to keep yourselves warm (even if you don’t have a strapless gown)?
Also, I’d love pics if you have ’em. 🙂

Sorry, I kid.
Have you looked into boleros? Etsy has some really cute ones!

I have a pink cardigan to wear over my dress when I get cold. I love cardigans, it looks great with my dress, and I know I’ll be able to wear it again.

@lilyfaith: LOL! That will definitely help!
As for boleros, I don’t really love ’em. I definitely plan on doing more research/ surfing the web. But boleros don’t seem to be for me.
@mandb122: Where did you get your cardigan? I can’t seem to find too many.

I actually found mine at White and Warren which strangely enough I had never heard of but it was pink and cashmere (what I wanted) and was marked down from $220 to $60. J. Crew also has a LOT of cardigans. This picture is what my cardigan looks like though. I had to search for a long time but J. Crew really did have a lot I was considering though. What color blue are you looking for?

This wasn’t really a problem I had since it was 40C (100 farenheit) on my wedding day. I vote for the cardigan, but it may have to be something that waits until spring’s cute bright coloured cardigans come again. Then they’ll be everywhere.

I am wondering what to do, too! Always, ALWAYS cold. I know I’ll be cold even in my dead-of-summer wedding, since it’s indoors and that means CRAZY air conditioning.
I am thinking of having a shawl made that matches the sash in my dress… I also want to somehow cover up a tattoo on my left shoulder blade. I like boleros but I feel like they will detract from my dress a little bit.

Thank you. I’ll check J. Crew and google White and Warren. My wedding colors are any color blue but I love royal blue. I’m pretty open though.

@mandb122: Oh, yea. Thanks so much! I may have to go over to my local J. Crew and try some on.
I read that J. Crew tends to do 30% off sales around Christmas time– does anyone know if that’s true?

Love the cardigans!!! I actually bought a slate blue pashmina that I won’t be wearing because our colors changed… I plan on buying a purple one for our wedding. I bought my bm’s grey pashminas. Ebay has great prices on them. Speaking of which if anyone wants a blue pashmina, I am selling mine lol!!!! Sorry for the shameless plug.

They right now have 30% off sale items but it’s final sale only but I haven’t looked at what cardigans that applies to.

Check Ann Taylor, too – they have several options in blue and are running a sale right now. I can’t copy the photos from their site, but here are a couple that I like that also come in blue:
I have the same issue… getting married on the beach in Florida in December, and wearing this dress (in diamond white, not champagne as the photo shows):
I have been looking for a cardigan, and also considered a pashmina. But I like the cardigan idea better. My colors are orange and green, and I would prefer orange, but didn’t find a lot of options. Here’s my favorite right now, from Anthropologie:
Not sure if it goes, though… which is why I started looking at pashminas. Maybe a white cashmere sweater from J.Crew would be better?

@lilyfaith: I second the alcohol option! 😀 That always helps me!
I like the cardigan sweater idea. If you are more of relaxed type of girl and have a laidback feel to the wedding, then that would work. Pashmina to me says more elegance. (I hope laidback and relaxed aren’t bad wedding words.)
I love blue so whatever you chose will be awesome because you are awesome and blue is awesome!
You have now given me something to think about. Even if I want a summer wedding, I know I will still be cold. I’m currently at work and have one pants, 2 shirts, a fleece and a blanket and I am still cold.

I also vote for a sweater! I picked our a simple yellow cardigan at H&M for only $20. I’m still looking to see if I can find a better one. J. Crew, Anthropologie, Mod Cloth are some of my go-to site to browse
