Hey Hive –
I am getting married March 8, 2014 and we live in Rochester, NY. The weather here is super unpredictable – it can be 13° with snow one day, sun shining and 65° the next and 45° with monsoon-like conditions the following.
We are getting married in one location and using a limo to get to the reception space. The bridesmaids will be in long chiffon strapless dreses and I don’t want them to freeze their butts off when we have to go outside.
Any thoughts for a way to help keep the ‘maids warm and still keep a cohesive look? I was thinking maybe medium-weight cardigans, nothing too bulky but still something to help cover them up.

@BigWhiteDress: Faux fur muffs and/or shawls.

@BigWhiteDress: I’m wondering the same thing! You could get a fur bolero. What is your dress like?

@linnylou_88: Glad someone else is on the same page as me, wanting to keep her ‘maids warm 🙂
The bridesmaid dress is 99.99% going to be Davids Bridal style F15555 in pewter. It’s a new style this season and I am in love with it!

I think the faux fur shawls/wraps are the best more-formal option.
If you could find a chunky cropped cardigan in a nice fiber it might be something they could wear again. Your dresses look pretty drapey so they should be on the more fitted side.
You could consider giving them mittens as a gift! I think this photo is super cute:
Are you going to have them wear boots or tights? If you’re not doing pics outside, they’ll probably be warm enough with just a wrap. Maybe have some plushy blankets in the limo for the ride over in case it’s chilly in there too. I’m originally from MN and I survived winter trips in formalwear with blankets.

What about something like this?
BTW our bridesmaid dresses are soooo similar!!!

@kgirl91: Those mittens are a brilliant idea!!!

I’m getting married in December in Pittsburgh, so I had a similar thought for my maids. I want outdoor photos if it is at all nice weather, and I want them to be warm. I ended up buying them these jackets on sale at Nordstrom just a few months ago. They will go with full length, black gowns. Now is probably the time to look for sales while the weather is still nice! I’m also wearing a white fur that used to belong to my future MIL so we should all look good together.

Also getting married early March in Pittsburgh. I’m looking at pashminas currently, but I’m not sure if it’s something I’ll go with or not. I love the look of these faux fur ones.

I got married on a cold November day and wore a faux fur. I was so glad I had it! I bought mine from http://fabulousfurs.com/evening-and-bridal-collection/c/4036/c2c/sc/
Faux fur can be pricey though, so shop around!
FF has some stuff on clearance right now: http://fabulousfurs.com/black-faux-fur-bolero-jacket/p/14265BLA/cn/205/
