Those that are interested in what is it like to be on a Slice TV show, I thought I would share my experience here in the hive as I have been getting some questions inboxed to me and I figured this may help others decide if it is for them to audition and also, what it is really like! 🙂
I found the posting on Kijiji, and applied. You have to fill out form on why you should be on the show, describe your perfect dress, write about yourself, etc. I sent that off and got a callback in 24 hours from Heidi.
You get a phone screen with Heidi, who is assessing your voice, presence on the phone, etc. She discusses your story and also the show, t osee if you want to proceed.
If the phone screen goes good, you are invited to audition. I had to bring as many people as Icould from my selected entourage. You need to go to Toronto and spend about an hour doing a “Test interview” where you get used to the camera. Your entourage also gets interviewed as well. It feels very unnatural as you need to repeat back questions and then also provide the answer, while smiling and of course, being positive, energetic and upbeat.
They send that audition tape off to Slice, for selection.
Then you wait. And wait. (I waited a month). 🙂
The Pre-Show prep:
You need to get ready for the show and give them a full half-day, and all your entourage. They have explained to me that it is like a regular appointment, which is an hour and a half, but with cameras. Oh, but you can’t wear this. Or that… 🙂
Fair enough–I am waiting for my wardrobe instructions and also, I have been told to bring several outfits in case the producer doesn’t like what I am wearing.
Lastly, you need to provide them with as much info upfront as possible ie: kind of dress or designer you prefer, and email all of this info to the producer asap.
I am filming May 25 and the show is airing in the fall. They just began filming a few weeks back 🙂
Some bees have asked what I get for being on the show. While I don’t feel comfortable disclosing what they give you as I have signed an agreement, I can say you get a consultation with a world-class bridal consultant, a copy of the show, and an incentive to be on the show.
Also, I am not sure where her shop is and not sure if I can disclose that yet either…but if I can of course I will 🙂
I hope this helps and if you want to apply, I cannot find the link anymore on Slice, if a bee does have it, please add, thanks!
