First of all I love that dress! Love KP and Austin Scarlet! I wore the KP Aria. I definitely think a fuller figured girl can wear a drop waist.  I think it really depends on your shape and where the ‘waist’ hits you on your hips.  That is what can make it flattering or unflattering…and if you love the dress but need it an inch higher or lower on your hips, they may be able to do that alteration. Def try it on.

I am a size 16 and every single drop-waist ballgown I tried on looked horrible on me. It made my stomach look HUGE. I carry all my weight in my lower stomach area, and the drop waist ballgowns made me look like a stuffed sausage. In my opinion, a natural waist ballgown is much more flattering on a plus size girl.

These types of dresses really do depend on where your weight is.  If you have nice curves through the boobs and hips this will work for you.  But, right after a baby you will probably still be working with some extra weight around your belly and unfortunately I think this dress will look bad with anything but a flat tummy : (

I hate to say it, but I second Moose1209. I carry all my weight on my belly, and have very small hips with thin legs, so certain styles were out of the question, such as mermaid (hugged me in all the wrong places) and very dropped waists (made my belly look huuuuge). I ended up with a slightly dropped waist style ballgown, which gives just the right amount of fit. I also tried on a KP gown which had a natural waist, but there was so much fabric it made me look like one of those little toilet roll dolls….Smile

I tried on a similar kenneth pool dress that I found at a consignment shop. I’m apple shaped and it looked absolutely ridiculous on me. The two bands of beading almost framed in my midsection in such a way that you couldn’t look away from the awfulness that was my torso. Or the beading that hit at the widest part of my hips or the beading that underlined the fact that I have no ass or any of the other horribleness that this dress caused 🙂

But you’ll never know unless you try it on. The dress was at the consignment shop and showed wear, so that means that some plus sized girl had rocked it at her wedding

I think a drop waisted ballgown is very flattering on any figure. That was the silhouette I wanted for myself but ended up going aa different direction. Now the Aria specifically… I tried on this dress and I didn’t like my photos at all. I’m slim but short (5’3″) and I think this one made me look even shorter.

I’m a Kenneth Pool bride and am wearing a dress VERY similar to the Degas – the Rosalind, the only difference is the bodice is heavily beaded.

This is what I am going to say about a drop waisted Kenneth Pool – if you are heavy in the stomach area, it will really show. I think that KP drop waisted dresses especially flatter very thin stomach areas and tall brides.  The drop waist makes short girls look shorter.  I think if you are full figured, but proportionate with an hour glass figure, the drop waist could be very flattering, but if you are full figured and really carry that weight in your stomach, it won’t be flattering at all.  In that case, I think a dress with more of an empire waist would be beautiful.

But TRY IT ON!!  In the end, the only thing that matters is HOW YOU FEEL in the dress.  Who cares what anyone else thinks??  You should wear whatever you feel most beautiful in.

One other caveat on the Degas specifically, from what I have seen, it seems like 75% of girls who buy a drop waisted KP, buy the Degas.  It’s everywhere!  Why not try a KP that’s a bit different and unique with the same sillouette.  The Degas is from an older line, there are some beautiful newer KP collection dresses that are very similar, but not the Degas.
