I’ve heard nothing but good things about the Brazilian.  The girl who did my hair mentioned how she lost a lot of money on clients doing the Keratin, it didn’t work and she had to refund a lot of money and the company said see ya later, never replaced her product for her.  So after hearing that, I hope to one day be able to try the Brazalian, once I land a job.  My friends have also had it and rave about it.

I’ve heard that it contains formaldehyde and there are questions about how safe it is over time when you wash your hair – but I haven’t actually researched it myself, so take that with a grain of salt.

I will tell you that Keratin is not a treatment for straightening, it’s for healthier hair. It should reduce frizz and straighten somewhat as a happy side effect. But the point is healthier hair. I think it lasts about 3-6 months ish (I’m trying to remember what they told me at my salon) but I know the condition of your hair improves more with each time you do it.

Anyway, I’ve never done it. I can’t stand to have that three day period of not washing or even pulling it back because my hair is fine and gets plastered to my skull. Very unattractive. Plus there isn’t a treatment in the universe that will actually straighten my hair. And if there were, it would break my hair. It is that curly (and fragile). I used to chemically relax but stopped when I strated coloring my hair. Only one chemical process at a time, you know?

PS – Keratin isn’t a chemical process and can be done on top of color. May actually help your color last longer as it improves the health of your hair.
