J's parents have owned one for years now. They love it, but the downside of it is that the individual coffee cups cost a good amount of money.
We have one (B70) and love it. The K cups are more expensive than a traditional coffee pot but its still cheaper than starbucks.
I LOVE our Keurig! It's one of my favorite wedding gifts. What I love is that it's super fast to brew a cup of coffee (it takes about 2 minutes from the time I turn on the machine until the time my cup is full) and it's easy to keep clean (just throw the k-cup away when you're done with it, and that's the whole clean-up).
K-cups can be pricey, but we buy them at Costco for about 30 cents a piece, which is the cheapest I've found. You can also get a reusable filter and use regular coffee to cut down on costs, if that is an issue for you.
We have one. Instead of using the k-cups we just bought the refillable filter, so we just put our own coffee grounds in it everyday. It's a lot cheaper that way, and you still get the convenience of making one cup at a time.
My sister got one for Christmas and I love it! It's so easy to use, quick to brew and go in the morning, and then I've got a variety of choices in the a.m. (if you buy various K-cups, obviously). While they're a bit spendy, I'm not one to brew just plain coffee at home, I'd buy it on campus, so instead of spending $3-4 on a cup of coffee, I'm only shelling out about $.50/k-cup. (And using my mug, not to-go cups, yay being green!)
As you can tell, a Keurig is going on our registry as well :-)
We have one in our house now, but FI uses it more often and he loves it. And like @chexmixDC we have the reusable filter and just put in our own coffee. I say, go for it!
I LOVE mine. The coffee does cost more than regular coffee, but if you buy them from BJs or Amazon, you can get them for less than 50 cents, sometimes around 30 cents, and for us, it's better than wasting the rest of the pot (or buying coffee out at a few bucks a cup instead of makign it at home).
I do know that some of the newer models don't seem to be as well built as the older ones. YOu may want to read some reviews and buy an extended warranty if possible.
It's a little wasteful if you look at the trash perspective of the cups, but so worth it to me. I run the drip tray (which will hold a cup of coffee... don't ask how i know ;) ) and the part where the cup goes through the dishwasher about once a week, and vinegar through the tank about once a month because we have such hard water.
Mine is going on 6 years old now and works just as well as it did on day 1.
:)
We have one at work. Its great if you can use the refillable filters. Otherwise, its soooo expensive to buy the kcups. They do make knock off cups that fit in there though, they are not as tasty, but they are cheaper.
I love and adore mine. I don't know how I lived without it and just like chexmix said Keurig sells a refillable mesh k-cup where you can use your own coffee if you want, so you don't have to by the normal k-cups. However, if you buy them in bulk it's about a quarter a cup, which I don't think is so bad.
We have the Breville and we LOVE IT. It is SO much more convenient and less messy.
@SoontobeMrsA: You just have to be careful when you fill the cup and empty it. Doing it that way is more like a regular coffee pot, except you're not going to have extra coffee that you'd have to throw away.
i have one! i've had it for a few years - my mom used to do demos for them so we got them for free. i love it!
i got kinda lazy with the k cups though - i have one of the filters that you can put your own coffee in which i prefer because i havent found a k-cup coffee that i love yet. but i love the hot cocoa!
@SoontobeMrsA: Not really, we just keep a small spoon in our coffee jar that we use to fill up the cup. It's less messy than making a whole pot of coffee!
I would marry mine if I could.
I get my k-cups on amazon using S&S and at BB&B w/ 20% off coupons.
I love it! Its great since me and the Fiance dont need to make pots of coffee. just two cups of yummy flavored coffee
we have one at work that I love, and fingers crossed we registered for one :)
I got mine for my birthday on feb 1 and found out 3 days later I was pregnant. It's great with hot cocoa, haha! I love everything about it.
I LOVE MINE!!!! FMIL bought us ours for christmas
This is while im drinking coffee from mine!!!
We have the B60 (aka "special edition"). We really like it for a few reasons.
It's also great if you want to boil a cup of water quickly. When I was really sick and wanted neo-citran, it was great to be able to get up, let it pour hot water into my neo-citran and drink it quickly.
@mwitter80: where are those mesh cups sold?? and why was I not aware of this???
My FBILhas one and loves it. I love it to. Going to register for one, especially since just reading that you can use your own coffee. I didn't know that! I like a lot of the flavors of the K cups too though. Macadamia is so deelish!
Considering we waste at least a cup of coffee a day sometimes with a regular pot I don't even know if the K cups would be that much more of an expense. I'd definitely get the filter for my own grounds though. My only complaint is, that with the coffee being brewed so fast it does not get very hot. I like a lot of cream, so that makes the coffee almost luke warm somethimes. Not a deal breaker though.
While I love the convenience of a single cup brewer, I just returned mine after a week. I was going through the cups like crazy because I should be in CA (coffee-holics anonymous). Nothing bad to say about the Kuerig, it just wasn't right for my coffee needs. Instead, I picked up a coffee/espresso combo
.
Dad's wife uses a Kuerig and she loves it. One caveat, though...Her's gave up the ghost after one year. Granted, she does a fair amount of entertaining. It would get quite a workout during parties. She upgraded the model this time, so hopefully this one will last longer.
I think it's a great investment if you are a 1-2 cup a day coffee drinker. But if you are a serious coffee drinker, it may just be easier to brew a pot.
I'm surprised so many people like these so much. There was one at my work and I hated it. I hated how the coffee tasted either too strong or too weak depending on what size you made (I don't know what model they had but you could pick small, med, or large, but all used the same size k-cup). I also thought they were really expensive since the manager said it cost about $1 per cup to make.
My FH always prepares the coffee maker right before bed and presses the start button when he gets in the shower, so I have coffee ready when I get up and he has it right out of the shower.
We actually registered for and got a Keurig, which FI is really excited about. My question is this though - can't you just use a regular coffeemaker and only make one cup?? Every night before bed I put two tablespoons of coffee in the filter and fill the water up to 4, then press the button in the morning when I get up. Five minutes later my coffee pot is filled with one mug's worth of coffee. Yes, clean-up is a little inconvenient, but I guess I don't understand the reasoning of a Keurig preventing you from wasting coffee. Do people really make a whole pot of coffee when they only want one cup? Am I missing something here?
I didn't read everyone's opinion so sorry if I repeat. There's a Keurig at work which is super awesome. I don't like coffee and generally don't drink tea, though there's often hot cocoa availiable. And that's pretty awesome. :-)
Plus, there seem to be all kinds of fun flavors to buy. Which I'd imagine is even better if you like coffee and tea.
@brackishfaun: I am a serious coffee drinker and I couldn't keep up with the cost. A box of 18 cups is $10 and I drink 1/2 cups a day. So it would come to $1 a day for coffee. This doesn't seem like a lot but spending $35 a month on cups wasn't working for me. So I still use my big pot and I use the keurig half of the time.
I like my coffee strong so the limited amount of water to put in the maker was a perfect ratio with the cup. So i completely understand!
Thanks guys, I have heard that lots of people love these coffeemakers. We're definitely putting one on our registry. Hope we get it! We'd get a lot of use out of it cuz we both like to drink coffee in the morning at least. I think the most we drink is generally 2 cups a day each.
Seriously, check out Costco for K-cups. We buy a box of 80 for $25 and that lasts us a month. It's almost as cheap as what we'd be paying for a couple pounds of specialty ground coffee.

What do you think of the keurig coffeemakers with the kcups? Do you own one? I've been hearing lots of good things about them and we're putting this model below on our Sears wedding registry:
