ooo i love kind of the island feel! and I dont know how I missed this post! Im a big fan of garden laterns and alot of fairy lights... and tea light candles. Somehow with all the decoration possibilities I just think white with this and not too many bold colors... Keep it a soft palette.
Anyway looks fabulous!
Your wedding sounds lovely just the way you have it planned. It sounds tropical, which will be fun and perfect for Key West. Love the steel drums.
One thing, though, Luaus and Leis are Hawaiian, not tropical. Other than that, I think your plans are perfect.
I LOVE IT! The settings itself gives it the tropical feel even without decorations. Maybe by going more tropical in general and not just luau you will could open up your possibilities. I would look for some modern wedding decor with vibrant coloring that does a outdoor wedding meets tropical island feel.
Thank you so much!! I think I will definitely keep it simple and go with either white or ivory linens... and I'll definitely do the white lights and lanterns! I'll be keeping it tropical all the way! Appreciate the advice ladies! :)

We're getting married in Key West, and I am struggling to come up with a "theme". I'm not sure I need one exactly, but thought it would be nice to have some narrowed focus. I'm currently all over the board.
Our ceremony is taking place in a garden under a huge tree. This area overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. So, we're not exactly having a "beach" wedding per se. More of a garden wedding. At our wedding, I am walking down the aisle to steel drums (live musician). Our reception is at a bed & breakfast that we've rented out for the 3-day span. It has this really cute garden area that has a palm tree in the center of it. We're going to have strands of lights as the "ceiling" and hang paper lanterns - I really love that look. The steel drummer is playing at our cocktail hour, but then we're switching over to a regular DJ for the rest of the night. For food, we're serving a pig roast (there's also a mango chicken option), but we really wanted it to be the laid-back island feel. Plus, we love that sort of thing.
Have I backed myself into a corner with a luau theme without really realizing it? Too boot, I'm wearing a gorgeous lace dress that really screams "perfect for the garden setting". So I didn't want to end up wearing a lei all night just to carry my theme through. LOL! So, to me - it sort of seems like a island-style or tropical theme? What do you think? In that case, I'm struggling with decor, other than - exotic flowers, vibrant colors (I'm planning to use eggplant (purple) and some pinks for sure).
I've posted some pictures of the actual venue to give you a feel of what I'm working with already. The tables in the picture will go away and we'll rent much larger round tables instead. There is also a side of the house that is pretty open (where we're having cocktail hour, where the bar and buffet will be set up, picture collages, etc.
Would love to hear your thoughts on the "theme". And what decor can I add to this place without going overboard, since it's already pretty beautiful. Just want some personal touches!! Help appreciated!
