I am also planning to get married in Key West in May 2012. We are arriving by Carnival cruise ship at 10am with the ceremony starting around 11:30am. My wedding will not be a Key West sunset wedding. I am looking into the Hyatt or the Westin for the ceremony and reception. I am torn between the two resorts and cant decide. Could you offer any helpful feedback from your experience? I have contracts from both and they are about the same price point for 50 guests (Hyatt is maybe slightly cheaper). Which is a prettier property? Which indoor reception room is better? Which is walking distance to Duval Street? We are coming off the Cruise ship from the Westin Pier and we don't want to have to pay for transportation. My ceremony will begin around 11am so which property is best for morning/afternoon weddings?

Here is a breakdown of the details:

Hyatt Resort Hotel Key West:

$2000 for everything including site fee and food/bev minimum, tables and chairs set-up for 50 guests

The wedding ceremony would be held at either their private Beach or Deck

The reception would be held at the Tiki Bar on their private beach

*I'm concerned about the jet ski tours that run near the property and beach ceremony

*I always see jet ski's in the the background of wedding ceremony pictures

*How is the food at the Hyatt?

Westin Resort Hotel Key West:

$50 per person food and beverage with no site fee so they average almost the same for about 50 guests

also includes tables and chairs set-up

The wedding ceremony would be held on the Pier

The reception would be held on the Sunset Deck (I think the deck is only partly covered?)

*I'm concerned about the jet ski tours that run near the property and beach ceremony

*How is the food at the Westin?

Also, any ideas of any good, yet inexpensive photographers and florist in Key West? I want a photographer where I can have full copyrights and images on a disc. I also do not want to pay and arm and leg for real flowers because I cannot take them home with me as the cruise ship will not allow real flowers on the boat so I need a very reasonable priced florist. I am not from Key West and I have never been there. Thank you!!!

I had thought about booking the wedding ceremony and reception with Carnvial but they are much, much more expensive than the hotels. Carnival prices start at $2150 for a destination wedding in Key West and that price only includes the bride and groom. Also, Carnival doesnt allow you to get married on the deck of the ship. They require you have an indoor ceremony if opting to get married on the boat. I want my ceremony outside and the reception inside if possible.

Ok the Westin all the way. Much prettier property. I have stayed at both, not for weddings, but just vacations. The Westin has a grander feel if that makes sense.
