For various reasons, we are not having kids at our wedding. Most of my friends have kids and there was talk about them getting a babysitter to watch some of the kids. What is the etiquette – do i pay for the babysitter?

I’ve been wondering the very same thing! I’ll have to keep up with your thread 🙂

It would be nice, and might encourage more guest with children to come rather than stay home, but it is by no means required. If you can’t afford it, you shouldn’t feel guilty about not paying for the babysitter. It’s a sort of bonus thing that isn’t required.

Etiquette does not dictate you pay. We had the same dillema and here’s what we decided…
We decided to pay for the children of the wedding party because they are obligated to attend. For everyone else, we notified them of the cost and how to contact the sitters directly. So far so good!
