A lot of people never have children, or want them. I had a son 2 years ago with my ex, so my FI has no choice but to want kids! We have talked about it though and decided on what we want to do about more kids (we have agreed on 2 more). My sister on the other hand, ADORES my son, and LOVES being with him and stuff, but doesn't want any of her own. I think her BF would want them, but they are both in their 30's and enjoy doing their own thing. Kids really do tie you down and they are a lot of work. they aren't for everyone either, so don't feel ashamed or bad that you don't want them.
Wow - I thought I was the only one without the urge to procreate LOL!
I have never had that intense maternal instinct either, and sometimes have wondered what is wrong with me (I'm 29). Theoretically, I do want children, and believe that once I get pregnant, and can feel myself sustaining life within me, that magical "feeling" will follow.
Currently, my FH and I laugh that since we can't really hear our biological clocks, they must be digital :P
queenbee - yeah mine is DEF digital and the alarm must be on silent... hehehe! it's so funny when i hear other women my age be like ooohh i have to have kids soon, and i'm like...um, i have to go on a 1 month trek around europe soon! i feel nothing. silly as it sounds, i still haven't recovered from the severe trauma caused by watching "The Miracle of Life" in high school health clas....
M FI loves kids. I don't. I'm 39 and don't plan on having them. He's 28 and has no kids. In his last two relationships, he dated women with kids and treated them as his own. One of them, he basically raised for 6 years from birth because the dad fled. He knows how I feel and respects my decision so we're cool.
My starter marriage was one in which I NEVER wanted kids and he ALWAYS wanted them. Needless to say, I gave in to his wishes and we had three beautiful children. I never felt maternal or had a desire to have kids until I had them. Now... I'm the most maternal woman my friends and family know. I adore my kids and am quite happy with the decision to make my starter husband's dreams of fatherhood come true. It was worth putting my desire of NEVER having kids aside for his. So, I know exactly how you feel and it was a very difficult decision at the time. Good think Mister and I agree we don't want any more children.
