So I was just reading this online article where a parent was asked to fork over money for her child to attend a friend’s birthday party. Wow, that’s a new one! When my daughter was under 10, she had some pretty nice birthday parties, but I footed the bill for all the kids’ costs. Has anyone ever heard of this? Is it a new trend?

@Kimberley25: I equate that to asking someone to pay for a seat at my wedding. If you host a party you pay. End of story.

This happened to me a few months back my son went to a party I gave the boy a $20 gift card inside a card and left as my other son had basketball to go to and when I returned my son informed me the I needed to pay the entry fee into the skate centre for him. I felt embarrassed so I paid and quickly left. I was shocked a 2 hour party cost me $30 and he didn’t even get lunch just a drink and cake!!!!!!

@Holly77: OMGosh! I couldn’t imagine that!
If you cannot afford to take care of the guests then you shouldn’t be throwing a party!
