We had this worry too. We didn't give a kids meal option on our RSVP, but if someone RSVPd with a kid, we contacted them to let them know that we had the option of a kids meal if they would rather have that for their child. All of them wanted the kids meal when given the option!
@heathaah: I'm doing something like (if i choose a more standard meal)

___ accepts with pleasure ___ declines with regret
Please initial each guest's entree choice(s)...
___ Steak tips and potatoes
___ Chicken and something (dunno what the something is)
___ Children's meal (chicken fingers and french fries)
I've seen people put something like this under the "Please Initial what entree you would like...." ...."Children 12 and under will be served the children's meal"
Hmmm I wonder if my OOT guests will neccessarily bring their kids with them...
Some kids do prefer steak. That said, definitely include a kids' meal on the rsvp card so that parents know what is available, and if possible, be descriptive as to what you are serving. The same applies to vegetarian meals.
If OOT kids are invited, they usually attend along with their parents.

Planning my sister's wedding. She is concerned her FH's family will select the prime rib for the 7 year olds. We are wondering how to word the response cards so it is clear that adults choose form the 2 meals, and children have chicken fingers. My wedding had "family style" so I am clueless about meal selections. Thanks!
