But I was just wondering how many of you and your SO's are that close to where you guys can go to the bathroom while the other one is in there too.  Or to go potty with the door open..etc etc.

Out of the blue I asked my SO if he felt that comfortable around me to do that and his response was "no way!"  I don't really see the big deal in it and all, but I guess may be some people are weirded out by that?

LOL it took awhile for us to be comfortable with this, but now that we live together and share a bathroom...when you gotta go you gotta go! Well pee at least...beyond that...NO. haha :-)

Yup, that's fairly standard in our house :) I'll brush my teeth/shower while he's peeing, and vice versa. Door open, door closed, doesn't matter.

#2...that's a different story! Behind closed doors only, lol.

LOL...well we have been together for 4 years now.  I am not sure if I feel a little sad that he doesn't feel that comfortable enough with me yet.

We've been doing it for years.

I am actually in the opposite boat from your FI, I have an irrational distrust of people who are weirded out about bodily functions. Like people who can't have a movement anywhere but home. Or if I guy I'm dating can't pee in front of me. I know it is just a preference, not a character flaw, but it is a strange turn off for me.

Yes, I'd say its all in each persons comfort zone....I wouldn't do it and my FI probably wouldnt either...but he doesnt have any problem passing gas around me! : )

@Wendy...my FI is that close with me...lol...but I like my privacy when I am doing "certain things" in the bathroom. He will just come right in and start talking until he notices the look on my face. I told him that I would hate to have to start locking doors in order to get some privacy...

     @ monitajb

I agree with u on that too.  I don't understand why he is like that either cuz he went to medical school and have seen things waaaaay worse than that!  I would think he would be use to that idea and understand that when you have to "pee or poo" it's all normal

We do! We always go to the bathroom when the other one is present, not a big deal for us at all. Plus, we are starting to potty train my son, so going to the bathroom lately has been a whole family thing!

We have a bathroom, with a separate toilet area.  So that you can go potty, and shut the door without locking the other person out ofhe bathroom.  So that helps.  My husband will leave the door open if he's going pee.  Fine I don't care.  But I don't ever leave the door open.  And I don't think he cares to see me go the the bathroom really.   I think the mystery is wonderful for our relationship. LOL!

We have been together just over 9 years. He doesn't care, but I do. I just think that some things should stay private.

LOL, this is a hilarious thread, thanks for starting is wendy!

My feeling is probably also colored by the fact that the first time I left the country was on an optional school trip to the UK and Ireland. This one girl went 11 DAYS without going number 2. Because she wasn't used to travel AND didn't have movement anywhere but her own bathroom at home. She was really annoying.

For me, though, the stories I could tell about places I've gone number 2....I'll give you all this image: public train, India, 14 hour trip, going 45 miles an hour, hole in the floor.

@Mr.Bee: LOLOLOLOL  Yes, according to FI, neither do I

We will pee with the door open but announce it so neither of us walks by.  #2 is strictly door closed!

I just read this to FI, and both of our reaction's were NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS!! My BFF and I were in a crazy situation and had to pee in front of each other and I had to make her stand in a corner with her eyes closed and sing really loud!!

OKAY, SO FOR YOU LADIES THAT ARE SAYING THAT YOU WOULD NEVER GO NUMBER 2 IN FRONT OF HIM....

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IF YOU HAD TOO MUCH TO DRINK AND YOU START THROWING UP WHILE HE IS HOLDING YOUR HAIR BACK?

ISN'T THAT JUST AS EQUALLY "GROSS"?

Um...throwing up isn't really something you can control. You can hold your pee until the bathroom is free.

@Wendy: to me, there's definitely a difference between #2 and throwing up due to drinking. I mean, first of all, throwing up while drinking--you're generally not really in control of yourself, and can't really help what you're doing. Second of all, if I am somewhat in control of myself but still throwing up anyway, I don't let him in the bathroom with me then either. Plus, poop is just yuckier than vomit.

We don't live together, but I can do #1 in front of him, but not #2. He can do #2 in front of me, quite often I come in and talk to him. LOL No #1 in front of me though.

I can honestly say no, we have 2 bathrooms, so there's never been a need for someone to use the bathroom that urgently- when there's another perfectly good one. I think I wouldn't like to get that comfortable, personally. No judgements on anyone else.

We don't live together, so this isn't an issue yet. But when we do become an old married couple, I am strongly in favor of the "mystery is good for a relationship" camp!

our apartments not that big, so all secrets went out the door within months of moving in together since our bathroom is in the bedroom. lol. So yeah, the door is open all the time, and we go to the bathroom with each other in there or when the other is in the shower and what not. Doesn't really bug me.

ETA: @Sarahsd-I think it does, too! I'm glad I'm not the only one! lol.
