So my fiancee and I are trying to decide where we want to get married. We live in fargo but I have family in Minnesota (4 hrs away) and he has family in Montana and Wyoming. Our biggest thing is trying to figure out where we want to get married and hold the reception. I would say that Fargo would be right but then either way family will have to commute…so I have no idea what route to take for it…any guidance or opinions would be really helpful.

@tasharose06: You have two options: you can choose a place where everyone has to commute, or you can choose a place where the least amount of people have to commute.
We chose where the least amount of people would have to commute, but it was where we wanted to get married anyways.
If Fargo is where you WANT to get married, I would choose that, and make no apologies for it. It’s not like you’d choose it SO people would have to travel.

@Quietserenity: Thank you! That really helps. My gut obviously tells me to have it in fargo because there is a wonderful venue that I fell in love with. I guess part of me feels bad for people commuting but I guess if they want to they can, if not I won’t hold it against them!

If you have it in Fargo everyone has to commute, if you do minnesota then his side has to commute, and in wyomming or montant your side and some of his side has to commute. Also having outside of fargo means you will have to commute, and plan everything from a distance.
I say go with Fargo, but it’s up to you.

I would have it in the dead of winter and do it in Jamiaca. You can get airfare that is fantastic, (For me sometimes airfare from Chicago to Jamiaca or Mexico is cheaper than Chicago to New York, where my sister lives….. so we meet in the tropics sometimes) and wouldn’t they all LOVE to travel to where it’s warm, since you guys are from cold country?

- Wedding: June 2017 - Vegas Wedings
@3xaCharm: I like this!
But honestly, I vote Fargo just because it will make your lives so much easier. We had the same dilemma. We live in KY, but Im from the west coast and he’s from MI. We were initially thinking Las Vegas which is close to my family or Lima, OH which is in between his family and us. But the idea of planning a wedding out of state tipped the scale and I have no regrets.

Thanks ladies! That really helps. I guess the whole planning a wedding thing just worries me because I just want it to be a perfect day…or as perfect as it can be!
