@daydreamwanderer: I found mine on Etsy. Beautiful unique covers there! I bought a apple green leather one from MEdge when I first got it but my etsy one is so different. Plus alot cheaper! Enjoy your Kindle, I adore mine!
No idea what your style is, but here's an example of one off of Etsy that I considered buying for my Nook.
I have a JAVOedge cover from Amazon:
And then the Vera Bradley e-reader sleeve for extra protection when I travel:
Yay! I *just* got a Kindle this past Holiday! I'm kicking myself for not getting one sooner (saves SO much time and space, but perhaps not money since it's incredibly easy to buy books), and I use this cover from Amazon.
The built-in light is fantastic and doesn't drain the battery too much. I've only had to charge this baby twice since getting it back in December (and I read A LOT).
I've got the apple green leather one from MEdge! Mine is the one that is only a cover. I was concerned about it just flopping open without a closure, but now that the leather is broken in it stays shut really well. It's well made and exactly what I needed. I love it!
My brother recently bought me a kindle, and I have this cover for it http://www.amazon.com/M-Edge-Capital-Kindle-Display-Generation/dp/B0045EOWNI/ref=sr_1_119?ie=UTF8&s=digital-text&qid=1301188347&sr=1-119
I wanted something where I could stick kindle in my purse without worrying about scratching it. The cover works great, I always bring kindle with me to the gym, it's so awesome.
I have an Etsy cover too:

There are a million fun patterns at this shop. Unfortunately, her designs are so popular that her prices have gone up $10+ since I bought mine less than a year ago. I love it though, because it stays on the kindle (you don't have to take it in and out like a sleeve) but it's really up to what kind makes the most sense for you.
Yay for you! Congrats on your choice, and happy birthday :)
I splurged on my Kindle cover, or rather, FI bought me the Kindle for Christmas 2 years ago and my parents got this Cole Haan cover as my 'wish list' gift. The only thing that would make it better is a built-in light. But the cover is gorgeous...I feel pretty when I'm reading and it's one I'll have for the life of the device.

DH got me this cover for my kindle. It is great - I love the light.
I have the regular brown one from Amazon:
You will love your new purchase!
Thank you everyone for your suggestions! After looking at a lot of options, I definitely think I want a cover that attaches at the four corners and has a cover like a book, but also has some sort of closure so it will stay shut. :)
@soon2bS: I'm thinking I'll probably get the JAVOedge cover. I like that it closes with magnets and the reviews (while not many in number) are great! :)
My FI just bound me a kindle this past week and I ordered this case to go along with it:
The color is nice, feels pretty sturdy, has magnetic closures and it was inexpensive.
So far, I'm a fan!
I have the same cover as @Tartlet, and it's awesome. My sister and her FI have older models, and their covers don't have a built in light, they're SUPER jealous of the built in light, it's a must in my opinion :)
@prettylizy: I looked at that one for a long time, and while I do like the idea of having a light, there are just too many reviews where the clip thingies that hold the Kindle in place end up damaging the kindle itself! I know myself and how likely I am to break things, and don't want to make it any easier, hahaha. :)
@daydreamwanderer: I think you'll love the JAVOedge! I really love having the magnet to keep it closed, and I also like the way it slides into the cover & doesn't obstruct any of the buttons. It's also very comfy to hold with the cover folded back. I can't say enough good about this cover, and I'm considering one of the newer patterns too!

I just got a bunch of cards filled with checks and cash from loving family members, and am going to buy a kindle this week! Hooray!
(oh, did I mention it's my birthday? people don't just randomly give me money, haha)
I know I'll want a cover with it too, so I feel comfortable tossing it in my purse. What do you use for yours? I'll be getting this one, but if you have an older model or whatever, I'd stlll love to hear your favorite brands or styles!
