I am getting married in June in a backyard ceremony in Saugerties and am sort of stuck for places for my guests to stay. I wondered ifg anyone had experience or advice.
We were initially going to have older family stay at B&Bs in Woodstock and friends (in their early 30s, no kids, not too picky) stay at the Skytop in Kingston. We checked it out and it’s no frills but clean. After reading *terrible* trip advisor reviews, we are now changing our minds about Skytop.
The Hamptons Inn and Holiday Inn in Kingston are charmless (strip mall location, totally generic). Are they just my only option?! Is there a nice motel/hotel with rates under $200/night anywhere within 20 minutes of Saugerties/Woodstock? We really want to run a shuttle to one hotel location so people can drink without trying to find cabs at 1 am.
Thanks in advance!!

As someone who lived in Ulster county from my whole life up until few months ago #1- Do not have your guests stay at skytop though it used to be swanky now it’s got a lot of shady month to month rentals going on.
If you’re looking for close by and more mainstream there’s a handful of new hotels put up in the last couple of years on Ulster ave/9w in Kingston. There’s a Hampton Inn and a courtyard. Easy access to Saugerties but they’re both near strip malls and not very ‘charming’
If you want someplace that makes people like they’re really vacationing in the Catskills there TONS of mom and pop adorable hotels in Mt. Tremper (20-30 min west from Saugerties) and also lots of more swanky B& B’s have poppped up in Hudson NY (20-30 min N of Saugerties- bonus: guests can easily take Amtrak to Hudson and walk to the b& b’s on warren st)
OH and OMG there’s the B&B at the Saugerties lighthouse which is THE most adorable thing on earth!! Though reservations need to made WAY in advance http://www.saugertieslighthouse.com and there’s only 2 rooms(might be good for you and the groom and then leave your place for wedding guests?)
