I like the sound of option 1 but with quartz not granite, I think granite is too busy and is starting to look more dated…

hegetsme:  Why not go for a colour on the cabinets?

We painted our old solid pine cabinets doors a mossy green colour, it works well with oak kitchen table.

I find white too stark, and black boring and dark. Eggshell finish would liven it up though.

hegetsme:  I like #1 the best, white cabinets are beautiful, I love the clean look.

Would you be able to add a backsplash in that design? I think it might look a little dull with all white/black/grey, if you could add a pop of colour I think it would look amazing. You have a good space to work with.

I’d go with option 1 and upgrade the countertops.  Quartz is also a good suggestion.  Oh, and backsplashes are cheap to do, so you could do that too!

hegetsme: I would go with option 2.. but Why not paint the cabinets a darker grey with chrome handles. I would definetly remove the light box and do a nice fixture. As for appliances, if you do a soft grey cabinet color, the white appliance won’t pop as much if you chose to stay wtih the white. If you’re doing a backsplash, i would change the countertop as well. Quartz is a better material than granite and depending what area you’re in, it might be almost the same price as granite.
