Kitchenaid Stand Mixer for a wedding gift??? What do you make in it?!?!

It seems these days the Kitchenaid Stand Mixer is (as my mother put it) a cornerstone of any good wedding registry.  ;)  I didn't receive one for my wedding but my WONDERFUL husband just surprised me with one that he knew I had been wanting (even better than the model I registered for too!!!!)  So, I bet a lot of you weddingbee-married-ladies also have one...and I would love to know - what do you make in your beautiful, countertop showpiece??

Any great recipes that were made for the Kitchenaid?  I really only make cookies in my current mixer - but my beautiful new Kitchenaid Pro600 (!!!!) has inspired me to branch out and bake up a storm!

@crebre-  Confession:  I would love to make pasta and even checked out the pasta attachment for it, but have absolutely NO IDEA how to use it or even begin to make pasta!!  I am such a novice!!  My poor husband :)

Since most people will probably post baking recipes, rather than cooking I'll throw in these two:

    1. Meatloaf - put everything in there to mix instead and you don't have to touch the germy/messy/cold meat.

    2. Mashed Potatoes - I boiled cubed potatoes then throw everything in there with milk and butter to smash and mix itself.

Meatloaf (no touching the meat to mix); biscotti (the dough is SOOOO thick); sour dough bread; cookies and the list goes on.

Of course I bought mine for myself years ago.

i use ours mainly or baking, i think you can even do bread doughs in there as well. i've done all kinds of cookies [makes creaming the butter so much simpler!] and cakes in it so far. i haven't tried it for cooking but i don't cook much. aha. one of the many perils of living at home! meals just appear on the table.

Mmm, I love homemade pizza dough and pie crust.  Plus we got the ice cream attachment, and we made homemade ice cream, gelato, and sherbet this summer!

Definitely dough.  Its also super useful for whipping up egg whites so I can make homemade waffles quickly and with a lot less mess!  Which is nice (and impressive) for houseguests.

Breads!  There's nothing better and homier than the smell of freshly baking bread.  I used to knead bread by hand until I hurt my wrist, and now I have to use the mixer...but the bread actually comes out better than before because I don't need to use as much flour since I'm not touching the dough.  Wetter dough makes better bread, who knew?

I make this recipe a couple times a week.  I halve it to make only one loaf, and cut down the sugar, but it's wonderful and very easy!

Oh, also, anything involving egg whites.  Stand mixers are a MUST for angel food cakes and meringues, and you can even make homemade marshmallows in them!  Best. Things. Ever.

I'm a Googler. If I were you, then I would Google this and get tons of answer probably.  In addition to all the lovely answers the Bee's gave you.

I love baking bread and hate breadmakers, and hand-kneading the dough can get tiring. If I ever get a stand mixer, I'll be using it for that (fingers crossed!).

Bread! It sounds so much harder than it is, I promise. I recommend the Williams-Sonoma bread cookbook to anyone - - I've never had one fail on me from there, and I'm not exactly a baking goddess.

Once you start making homemade bread, you'll hate the weeks you run out of time! Grocery store bread just isn't the same :)

We don't have one, but it is definitely on our registry! FI loves to make chocolate chip cookies, so I'm sure it will get used MANY times for those!

I *love* ours. I always said, "When I find someone and get married, I'll register for one!" Turns out I met a guy who already has one. ;)

FH makes homemade whipped cream that we eat on pancakes. It's so easy! You just throw some heavy whipping cream in there and turn it on, it takes a few minutes. It's incredibly fluffy!

Making frosting with this machine is the BEST. Laughing It makes baking so much easier with this awesome machine.

OMFG, I agonized over whether I should register for a pink one or a yellow one. But in the meantime I hijack my mother's and make EVERYTHING in it.

It's fantastic for mashed potatoes. So easy! I also love making double-batches of cookies, since the bowls are big enough.

(And in case you were wondering, I chose yellow. I make P endure so much pink already, I would let him have a slightly manlier mixer. Well, yellow can be manlier when it's compared to the color pink.)

We just got the ice cream maker attachment for my kitchenaid mixer.  It was left on our registry and had enough in giftcards to buy it ourselves!!  Haven't made any yet, just got it.  Will let you know how it turns out!

@mrspaetz: yes - the biggest one they make (6 quart bowl)!!!! I'm so excited to get it (it's being shipped).  My husband is a pretty good cook too - so I know he will use it occasionally too.  That's why I went with the "nickel pearl" color  - I figure he would find that "manly" enough to use :)

I've already gone out and bought some accessories for it.  my mom swears by the mixing blade that scrapes the outside edge of the bowl as it mixes (no more reaching in to scrape it!)  She recommends it to all her friends and family - so of course, I had to get one...

I've joked for years that since I already have every kitchen tool I could ever need, the only reason I'll have to get married is to get a Kitchenaid mixer!
