Our sweet kitty Lyra has had a cold for the last couple of weeks, and it turns out it is because she has a nasal polyp (which is also what causes her awesome loud purring sound). Though it made us sad to think she will be losing her distinct “voice,” it is for the best for her health, so she is having it removed today. I dropped her off for surgery this morning, and it will be starting soon, and I am super worried about her. The vet told me it is low risk, but she is still going under anasthesia, and she is my baby 🙁
I’d love if you guys can pray or send positive vibes or luck or whatever you choose in her direction today.
Here she is in all her cuteness:

Awww, good luck Lyra! It sounds like it will be quick & easy, but I can understand still being apprehensive. I’m sure she will get extra loves & pets tonight when she is home!

Big hugs! And hopes and prayers that your cute kitty will be safe and sound and recover quickly. So sad about her little voice, though. Please keep us updated on how she’s doing. Sending many good vibes her way and yours too.

Positive thoughts being sent Lyra’s way. I have two kitties and I felt the same way when one had a procedure recently. Best wishes for a smooth recovery!

I know it can be scary, but she will do great and she will feel a lot better after without that pesky polyp! 🙂

Thank you everyone for your well wishes and prayers. The vet called and I am very happy to say that the surgery went well and she is groggily but healthily coming out of anasthesia now 🙂 There was so bleeding when the polyp was removed, and he said she has blood in her nostrils now (!), but that one good sneeze should get it all out. He also said this is normal. They want to monitor her for a few hours, but I can pick her up this afternoon. Can’t wait to get her home and cuddle her – she is definitely getting a Fancy Feast tonight!
@WillyNilly: Thank you 🙂
@DaneLady: Thanks, and yes, SO many pets lol
@Sunfire: Thank you, and thanks for understanding about her “voice” – it gave her so much personality. But I just have to remember that she is still the same sweet and lovie kitten, even if we can’t hear her purr from another room anymore!
@SmangieBee: Thanks hun! I’m glad your kitty was okay too.
@Cady: Thanks, and I’m sure she will! The doctor said it was a BIG one!
@vorpalette: Thank you girl 🙂
@Aisakura789: Thanks – and yes, snuggles will be had!
@BlondeBee: Thank you dear!
@Christy42213: Thanks – that means a lot 🙂
@MrsSaltWaterTaffy: Isn’t she such a cutie? Thank you!

@sarahbabs: That’s wonderful! I’m so glad to hear she’s doing well, thank you for updating.
Yeah, one of my favorite things about cats is the way they make the best sounds, and they’re all so unique. I really like to hear a cat happily purring or making their cute little noises. Maybe her voice won’t be affected too much. 🙂
