Hi janelle,
Welcome to Weddingbee!
I don't have any specific recs for you; however I believe you can have your gown altered anywhere you like. For example, what if your Mom is a steamstress, why would you have to pay?
If in doubt give them a call and ask - if they require that you get your alterations there and that bothers you or they are too pricey you might want to keep looking.
Hope this helps!
Best,
-Lori

i tried a dress i think i want to buy at kleinfeld. it's not available anywhere else in the NYC area, so i'm stuck with that. i keep reading they will tack on $500-$600 flat fee for alterations. is this true? is it possible to purchase at kleinfeld and have the alterations done elsewhere? has anyone negotiated the alterations to be included in the dress? any recommendations for alterations in NYC?
