How fun!! Tell us a bit more about your experience! I haven't been to Kleinfeld, nor do I plan on ever going (I live in LA), but I do catch the show once in a while. Did you meet Randy??? He's my fave, LOL!
My sister went to kleinfelds. It was a bit overwhelming, so many dresses. Ultimately she ended up falling for a dress similar to one she already had on hold at another store. She didn't buy the one from kleinfelds cause it was $1500 more than first one she liked.
Congrats on being on Say Yes to the Dress! Love that show! I'm curious--How did you become a participant on the show? Did they just happen to have the cameras rolling the day you came in and they asked if they could tape your experience or is it more involved? What a great wedding memento that footage will be!
So how was your experience at Kleinfeld? I might go there for my dress when I move to New York and I'd love to hear about the experience.
I met Randy!! He helped me with dresses, but I was not on the show although they were taping people around me. Kleinfeld is majestic but can be overwhelming if you don't know exactly what you want. I'm still looking for the perfect dress! :)
@Golden139--You can go to the Kleinfeld website to "apply" to be on the show. I just happened to see it the other day when I was looking at their dresses online.
Good luck! :)
@ddubz: Thanks! I never would have thought they had a formal application process.
I was *just* watching "Say Yes to the Dress" and wondering to myself if any of these brides were ever on weddingbee, and lo and behold, my question was answered.
I did go to Kleinfeld! Actually, Randy helped pick out my dress (he and my mom found it.) I went twice actually, and requested a different consultant for my second time there. I dont want to talk negative of anyone on here so if you NEED to know who my first one was PM me. She was very nice, but I was uncomfortable. I ende dup buying the same dress, but from a smaller bridal shop in my hometown (i live in NYC now, bought it where my parents live). Because I went to them over Kleinfeld they gave me 20% off. Score!
The overall experience was wonderful though. If you dont have the slightest idea of what you want, i Imagine it would be overwhelming. The consultants there are very talented though, they are great at picking a dres based on your vision and wants/dont wants.
Mrs SMC - what dress did you end up getting!!! And who was your consultant?? I hvae my DVR record EVERY show...new and repeats. Ive seen them all at least twice. Pathetic i know ![]()
Wow, super cool! @Mrs SMC definitely let us know when your episode will be airing!! My sister bought her dress at Kleinfeld - I forgot who her consultant was (this was 4 years ago) but she was very helpful. I've made 2 dress shopping trips already and plan to go to Kleinfeld for my next trip!
I hope to do a behind the scenes of Say Yes post one day! The nice peeps at Kleinfeld invited me to come down when they're taping. And I love Randy! Isn't he the sweetest ever! Let us know if you find out when you're on!
Just accompanied my friend there for her first fitting. It was my second time there and both times, everyone was very helpful and accommodating. I have an appointment for myself in a few weeks. I am going to look at dresses at another store first, just to get a feel for trying on dresses. I already know what type of dress I want, budget, etc., so am looking forward to my Kleinfeld's experience. :)
My consultant was Keasha. And I did get to meet Randy! When we filmed for the show it was my first time trying on dresses, so I had no idea what I wanted! I came in thinking I wanted a mermaid silhouette but ended up falling in love with ball gowns (I ultimately purchased a mermaid silhouette but not at Kleinfeld).
The first time I was at Kleinfeld I would not say it was the best experience, because when you are filming each dress takes so long to get through. They talk about the dress with you in the dressing room, then you go out and show your family and have to talk about it some more, they have to get different shots of the dress... It was my first time trying on and I was ready to try on 100 dresses, but we only got through about 4-5 (and we ended up being there for almost 5 hours with exit interviews, etc.)
I went back a few months later with a better idea of what I wanted- before I went back, I had been to a dozen other places to try on dresses around the city. I did not tell TLC that I was going back, so we did not tape that visit, and I still did not find "the one". I liked one of the dresses, but it was a little over my budget and I had doubts in my mind.
I finally ended up buying a dress at Junko Yoshioka- she is amazing and Junko took my measurements herself!
My contact at TLC told me that my taping for SYTTD will be airing in Episode 2 of Season 4 which should start this fall! Who knows what it will turn out like with the editing, but it will be a nice memory of my first time dress shopping :)
that is too cool. Keasha was incredible with me (she was my second time consultant)
I always wondered if that took for EVER to do. The girls often only try on 3 to 4 dresses in those episodes, I never understood why or how. Now I do! Mrs Bee, Im DYING for a behind the scenes look at this!
I LOVE watching this show, so I'm so excited for you Mrs. SMC! Keasha is always my favorite consultant on the show--she seems to really listen to the brides and has fun. Also, I love Randy, what a doll.
wow so exciting; I bought my dress at kleinfeld and got it the first day--my dream dress, when I cried ; can't remember my consultant's name, she was helpful; its abeautiful place, you can feel the air of happiness and excitement about it
got mine at a sample sale for $599, woo-hoo, but paid dearly in alterations, crikey!
I'm going to Kleinfeld to try on dresses in August and I'm excited but a bit nervous because it's SO well known I worry they will be snotty. Hopefully not, because that's not the way to get my business! Also, my mom is coming with me and she is, well, a no-nonsense kinda woman to say the least. If she doesn't like someone, they know it REAL fast. I should probably start watching more SYTTD...
Believe me when I tell you that they werent the least bit snotty to me. At all. If your mom is no nonsense, that should be fine as long as she is tactful about it. I didnt want my mom or sister to sugarcoat a dress not looking good on me, I didt either. We saw it, didnt like it, said "nope not it, this is what I dont like" and that was that. They'd go get a new dress without that charachteristic. The experience there is wonderful - the consultants truly love what they do
The vastly superior size of their collection was well worth putting up with the extra pushiness I encountered.
Is there any way to watch full episodes of the show other than catching it on TV? I don't have cable.
Mrs SMC -- I was on the show too! My episode only made it as an online "webisode" though and not into the actual season rotation. I'm sure yours will air since they told you which episode it will be, but just a heads up of the possibility.
I went to Kleinfelds and had a decent experience. The receptionist was very rude and not accomodating. My mother is a bit older and wasn't able to travel with me so we wanted her to be able to take part via the webcam. I asked for instructions to help get her online but the receptionist refused to help me. We went and bought a new computer just so my mom could help me pick out the dress. Because the receptionist was so rude I spent almost an hour with Keasha and Joan trying to get my mom online. I ended up having to use their back office and log onto her computer through Kleinfeld's computer. Before my fittings began I was already in tears because I really wanted to have that mother/daughter moment. I think that Joan and Keasha were pretty upset with the receptionist as well. When we finally did get my mom online so she could see the webcam the appointment went really well. Keasha is FANTASTIC!!!! Say Yes to the Dress was taping while I was there... quite interesting. I did not buy my dress from Kleinfelds but would have had they carried the designer - Junko Yoshioka.
@MrsSMC - how long after you filled out the application did they call to say you were picked? I filled out the app about a month ago - right after I got engaged...but no phone call or email. :( I really wanted to be on the show!
I am going to film for the show at the end of jauary I got a call after filling out the application about 3 weeks later.
that is sooo cool! I can't wait to see your episode on air. keasha is my one of my favorites but you are so lucky to meet randy in real life. it sounds like you had a wonderful experience.
mrs.bee please do a behind-the-scene look for us who can only dream of Kleinfeld's!
I too am filming for the show next weekend- October 8th 2011 in NY... I will be on Season 7..looking forward to the experience...!!! Will try to post some behind the scenes photos when I get back..
Congratulations on making it on the show...I love that show, even before I got engaged I was hooked to that show!
I applied to be on the show 'Say Yes To The Dress', i'm really eager to hear back from them! For the people who have been on the show, how long did it take for them to get back to you?
I have a question, i might be going to Kleinfelds next month. Those who went was it crowded or very busy? Did you have to wait a long time? I really do not want to go if you have to wait in line or something because I am visiting my mother only for the weekend so I don't have much time.
@shutterpeak2122: You have to make an appointment. You can do so on their website. I made an appointment, but never went because I found my dress before then, but I do remember that I had to make my appointment a month ahead of time because they fill up.
@JessyMess: yeah i just checked! They already have no weekend dates for November! Too bad! :(

Have any of you been to Kleinfeld for your dress? What was your experience there/who was your consultant? I did a taping for Say Yes to the Dress (my episode is going to air next season!) so I wanted to see if anyone else has done this before?
