Quick review of KM PHotography.  We had them for our wedding and they did not do a very good job.  They only took about 400 photos total (as oppose to the 1,000 + that most places do for a similar price).  We were expecting a lot more photos.  They missed a lot of things and for other things they would only take one or two photos -- like one or two photos of your first dance, one or two of the father/daughter dance.  This is not enough considering that sometimes both people would be looking away or one person would have their eyes closed.  They didn't take any of me with my bridesmaids all together.  They hardly gave us any guidance as far as what photos we should get.  You're kind of in a daze the day of the wedding so it's important to have someone who will suggest things and take photos that they know you will miss if you forget to take.  Also, a lot of the photos they took someone had their eyes closed or was looking away.  they never checked for such things so they would not take another one but just give it that one shot.  Overall, disappointing performance.  Their response to our complaints (after we got the photos) was basically, we don't care.  Thank god we had a videographer to capture all the moments they missed.  We had two photographers at the wedding so there's no reason why they couldn't do a better job.

We booked them. Any advice as to how to prevent these mistakes?

I should clarify that I am refering to the K.M. PHotography based in Clinton, CT.  Just to make sure it's the same one.

Make sure to keep asking them to take photos to capture the various moments.  We wanted the photos to be very natural and left it up to them to capture all the moments, but this proved to be a mistake.

Also, ask them to check when they take a photo (they are all digital) whether it came out ok and re-take if there is a problem with the photo.  Discuss how many photos you will be getting ahead of time.  We though that with 7 hours of coverage and two photographers they could manage more than the 400 total.

We relied on them to just snap photos as we celebrated with friends and family.  However, if you keep in mind that they will probably miss a lot of the fun moments and that you need to specifically instruct them to take a photo, you'll be ok.  For instance, when I was getting ready with my bridesmaids, I hardly noticed them and was mostly concentrating on getting ready.  I thought they would be snapping away, but we hardly got any of these photos.  So just keep asking them to take photos.  Hope this helps.
