@JerNCher:  Because some loving boyfriends are terrible at keeping surprises a secret! haha

@JerNCher:  I knew because my fiancé gave away really obvious clues. I guess he was excited and let a lot of things slip. Plus I was able to put some things together. It didn’t take anything away from the proposal. It was still really awesome.

I knew he was going to propose.. I agree with ohhhbitty in the sense that my fiance is not the best secret keeper. Honestly he was so excited he told me about his ring shopping adventures, not specifics per say but that he was going. I also ended up narrowing it down to a specific weekend because we were planning a huge move (from Seattle to St. Louis) and we were going to go visit and tour places to live.. I had a feeling it was coming BUT I didn’t know the exact time or “how” he was going to do it so that was still a surprise! I also had no idea what the ring looked like and I think that made it a huge surprise (because obviously it was so beautiful). I also think that even if you know the exact date, time, what have you- you’ve still never heard him get down on one knee and say he loves you more than anything and wants to spend the rest of his life with you 🙂

Oh and he told me he was “going to meet up with my dad” the weekend before we flew to STL, yeah, wonder why? 🙂

We were really open about the proposal. We were really open during the whole ring buying process, so I knew it was going to happen in a certain timeframe. Based on spme pretty obvious hints, I even guessed the right night. It doesn’t bother me at all, especially since I hate surprises. I’m happy with the way everything worked out for us because it was a really exiting time for both of us even leading up to the proposal!

@JerNCher:  I had never heard of this until I started browsing this website (years after I got married).  I had no idea what “waiting” was.

@ohhbitty:  Yup!

Also, we bought the ring together and knew we were going on vacation after the ring was bought. I’m also a stressed out pest who has to know what’s happening.

It was still so memorable and sweet.

My FI kept making sure we were still going to our favorite place for dinner on Friday. He never makes plans in advance or asks about Friday plans during the week, so I was suspicious, and I did my make-up…just in case!

I didn’t know for sure, but I had a hunch he had bought the ring, and he told me to dress nice when I came over, which he never does, so I had a feeling lol

Well we bought the engagement ring together completely on a whim because it was on sale, then I went crazy waiting for two months. He was able to hide the day he went to see my dad to ask, but the day of the proposal we went to visit our best friends out of town and I knew he wanted her to photograph the proposal and she told me to dress cute, so I dressed nice but not nice enough to give it away that I knew lol I would have been mortified to show up in sweatpants for those pictures lol FI is terrible at surprises and I’m glad!
