At my FH's company parties, they always brought out Krispy Kremes at midnight and they were a HUGE hit! However...I don't think they travel very well, so if you're giving them out to take home, I would say chocolate chip cookies.
Could you figure out a way to do both? Like having Krispy Kremes with milk (maybe in the cafeteria milk cartons...I know I've seen this idea in the blogosphere somewhere) at the end of the reception & then cookies packaged to take home? Or you could have the caterer bring out half donuts and half cookies with the milk (i.e. a platter of each) at the end of the reception and then have nothing to take home. I'm sure no one would even miss a take-home favor.
I vote the cookies, for sure. I really don't like krispy kreme - I've known many people who ger sick from them, and they're really only good when super fresh.
how many krispy kremes would each person get? while i enjoy the occasional krispy kreme donut, i can really only eat one at any one time. i'd rather get chocolate chip cookies. those are my favorite!
I love love love Krispy Kreme (high five, Layla, southern girls rock!) but I love them BEST when they're PIPING hot. So I voted chocolate chip cookies, cause... I love chocolate chip cookies too. Even when they're cold. With milk.
I LOVE Krispy Kreme donuts...I have been known to make an illegal u-turn a time or two when I pass one and the "hot donuts now" sign is on...however, I only like them hot so I voted for chocolate chip cookies.
I agree krispy kreme donughts are onlly good when they are really fresh and hot. They do not hold up like other donuts do. I would get the cookies.
How do you plan to display them? I think Krispy Kremes would be difficult to package because they're so sticky and the glaze melts so easily. I think chocolate chip cookies are the way to go-- easier to package and they taste great at room temp! :)
krispy creme's are really delicious but I think they're a bit kitsch for a wedding...sorry. Home-made choc chip cookies are a much nicer idea!
Well, I was thinking Krispy Kreme because We live in NC and that's where they originate, but it does seem like cookies would be easier. I'll have to think about this a little more.. thanks everyone!
Cocolate chip cookies, but that's because I hate krispy creme doughnuts! They really never caught on here and most of the places that carry them are phasing them out.
personally I love krispy's but I do agree they are best when the hot light is on!
I would also go with the home made chocolate chip cookies. Krispie Creme's are way too sweet for a lot of people. I personaly don't care for them, but if you know that the majority of your guests do like them, then I would include them and the cookies.
Omg...if I went to a wedding with Krispy Kreme favors I think I would die (of happiness of course). I think they would hold up just fine as long as they were kept air tight. I get the "they're only good warm" thing, but you could argue that for choc. chip cookies, too. Honestly, I guess you really can't go wrong with either. Oh, and can I come to your wedding??
Cookies hold up better . . . especially if you don't expect your guests to eat them right away. A smashed Krispy Kreme isn't very appetizing.
I think the cookies will hold up better for favours. Doughnuts are awesome, but by the time the guests eat them (since they're taking them home, they may not eat them for another day or so), they might be pretty stale.
For favours, I'd definitely go with the cookies. The doughnuts would be great if they were really fresh, but do you really want that hassle on the morning of your wedding? Plus, they're really not so portable -- the cookies would be easier for your guests.
This is such an interesting idea! I never even though of donuts or cookies for favors.
Now, I too, am a Southern Girl (Texas, originally), and I love me some Krispy Kreme. I don't care if they're hot or cold, they're delicious. However, I think donuts wouldn't be very "personal" if you know what I mean. Maybe you could personalize them somehow?
I voted cookies because I feel like cookies "come from the heart." Everyone loves homemade cookies!
As you can tell, I'm all about personalized stuff and having stuff be homemade. I'm mushy :)
I vote chocolate chip cookies because you can make them yourself and because I know alot of people (myself included) that aren't huge fans of Krispy Kreme - they're SO sweet!!
well i love love loooooove Krispy Kreme, so thats my vote! my fiancee and I are thinking about having a KK cake, but i am afraid they wont be fresh by the time we are ready to eat them. If you order ahead of time you should be able to pick them up morning of the wedding, and when they eat them that night I think they will still taste fresh.
yummy!
The little piggy in me wanted to click both, but I voted for chocolate chip cookies! They can be made ahead of time, they taste yummy & they're easier to package than the donuts!
Krispy kremes are always sticky! The cookies are more guest friendly IMO :)
I voted for chocolate chip cookies. My first KK was right out of the oven and was super hot ... loved it but when I had one another time it was not as fresh and I hated it!
I think the only way I'd ever eat another KK donut was if it was right out of the oven that minute. =)
@ NicLoop.. a KK cake?? Do you have any pix of that, that would be a crazy cool idea!
To me, nothing is better than a Krispy Kreme glazed donut...so that's my vote!
Krispy Kreme holds a special place in my heart (used to have them almost daily on my commute from the store that was in the World Trade) so I naturally considered having them for the wedding. Problem is, cold they are pretty blah. For that reason, I say cookies all the way :)
You can always heat up a chocolate chip cookie when you get home to make it soft and warm..mmm
I voted for both! But if I must choose, chocolate chip cookies!
i love KK! my only concern is: how are you going to wrap them individually? so, i voted for chocolate chip cookies which i love as well!
KRISPY KREME!! they only have one where i live now and trust me when i say i crave them now!! and i think guests would eat them on the way out the door!! at least i would (but i am another southern gal high five layla and kmsull!!) chocolate chip cookies are great too (which is why i chose both)... i definitely say give folks the option and you could use those little glassine envelopes and they could fill them up with what they want versus you deciding either or and you could have the milk cartons on ice that's so freaking awesome and cool!
I voted for the cookie, but only because the last time I ate a donut (in college) I got really sick and threw up apple fritter for like 2 hours... so now I get sick whenever I see/smell them. I'm not a good basis for a decision. :)
We did mini Krispie Kreme Donuts (3 each, one glaze, one chocolate, and one with Scarlet & Grey sprinkles - what else in Ohio
), guest choice of chocolate or white milk, or coffee. We put the donuts in a 4x4x4 inch bakery box with a label on the front that said "Sweet Dreams and Warm Wishes". The guest loved them, many are still commenting how great they were for breakfast the next morning.
We were worried about freshness too so we asked the Krispy Kreme location to make them as late as possible and we picked them up right before closing the night before the wedding and immediately boxed and sealed them up. They were actually quite good, even the day after the wedding.
I say krispy kreme if your chocolate chip cookies are the crunchy kind. If they are soft, then I vote for the cookie, hehe :)
I vote Krispy Kreme!! YUM!!
Now I want one ;]
From what I have seen, more people prefer chocolate chip cookies to the donuts. But everyone has their own preferences. What do your family and friends enjoy?
@sewing - i agree about cookies! if they crunch at all, I don't like to eat them. I like mine gooey! And with that ladies, i'm going to to explore the kitchen ;)

Which would you perfer? My dad says he's worried about the krispy kreme because we'd have to pick it up the night before, and they wouldn't be as fresh.. but someone may be able to pick them up?? I was thinking about chocolate chip cookies too. IDK.. what do you think?
